Wouldn't really work
look at the picture again that I posted up
not just a few little holes but all kinds of nooks and crannys for mud/salt to get into.
Now if you lived in Arizona then yes it maybe OK
But in the midwest you're just asking for rust issues
Plus when the liner is out you can see the foam etc that blocks the door / hinges etc like Dick stated

ohhh i gotcha just a thought lol. did you get a chance to bring up the kj country spare covers with the rest of the mods and admins? im throwing together a couple designs on photo shop for ***** and gigs

It's not a new idea Jayme but .. I got a lot of extra clearance with a heat gun and cold sledge ... pressed into the plastic at the right moment. Of course if it is the outer fender profile your catching that won't help you much.

Even though this is totally off topic I do have a psd of my spare cover. I drew it up and my mom painted it for me. I like it :)

It's the inner liner, just to the inside of where the pinch weld is. Not rubbing on the (lack of) pinch weld anymore... just that liner - it's pulled away from the sheet metal underneath. Yours is another option I can look at when I have the time.
