I am currently disassembling an engine. This is the first engine rebuild that I have done. Can anyone speak to the quality of the rebuild kits that I see? There are two brands on RockAuto (DNJ & EngineTech), I also see Clegg. Anyone have a favored brand?

Get a kit from the same machine shop you have work the heads, turn the crank, bore the cylinders, etc. If you don't have the mentioned machine shop work done, it don't matter which kit you get. It ain't gonna last very long anyhow.

Well, now I live on the Big Island of Hawaii and pickings are kind of slim here. I had my heads done by a guy who mostly does stuff for the muscle car and classic car guys on island. I will see what he says. He is coming over in a few days to look at the engine block and bed plate.
