What suggestions do you have for protecting the radiator? I have the chrome grill inserts (came that way) but have since had one stolen and another fell off. I don't like the idea of leaving it 'naked' as we get a lot of rocks thrown around here and my radiator might not last long without protection. Something like this (http://www.metalcrafters.com/onlinestore/aftermarketgrilles.html) would be cool but this is too pricey and is designed for the JK. I like the idea of black instead of chrome.

Search around a bit. I used screening on mine. Got it at walmart for around $5 a roll I think.

ICarl, I bought two black mesh waste paper baskets from Canadian tire for $20.00. I cut them up and made grill inserts and shaped them very similar to what you see in those pictures from Metal Crafters. They look better than their $350.00 version!
Look around this forum and you will find allot of KJ owners who have done this customization.
They all look cool as well.

Cheers

I was looking for something like that at Canadian Tire. I ended up buying some plastic mesh fencing at Home Hardware. But I may take it back and look at the waste basket idea because it looks more rigid. Is this what you used? http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/p...4443253235&assortment=primary&fromSearch=true
how did you fasten it to your grill?
JeepJeepster I like your idea too but how did you fasten it to your grill?

Yup, that be the one!
I used 3M double sided adhesive foam tape.

The black plastic insert just pops out. You take it off then put the screen between it and the grill. I put some Silcone Caulk in there to to help keep them in place. :)
