Ranchos?

Alright probably a stupid question, but whats the difference between
Rancho RS 5764
and Rancho RSX17505
They are both for the front of the KJ, and i know the RSX17505s are discontinued but can sometimes be found.
Which ones do I want, and why?


Also same goes for the rears, look for the 17004s or stick with 5000 series.

Also on the 5000 series I can get $50 rebate from 4wd.com when buying all 4 which is like one rear shock free!

The RSX series had auto leveling....the RS doesn't.

And how necessary is the auto leveling..

I wouldn't go so far as to say autoleveling there Tony but the RSX series is gas charged whereas the RS series is a hydraulic shock. No gas charge. The RS relies on spring pressure to return to the extended position where a gas charged shock will do it on it's own.

Go RSX17505 up front and 17004 in the rear. I just ordered two 17004's from xloffroad for $113 shipped.

Stick to the RS5000 series unless you have lifted more than 2". They work the best for daily driving and off road ventures. I just ordered my second set:

Uh oh I'm hearing both...
I was kinda leaning towards the RS5000s just because they are a tad cheaper with free shipping to the 4WD Hardware thats about 10 mins from me plus a $50 visa debit card mail in rebate.
Although auto leveling does sound like a nice feature...

Once more.... the RS series of shocks are NOT gas charged. The RSX series are gas charged. Go to www.gorancho.com for more product info. They have some nice .pdf stuff that you can read to learn more about the differences between a hydraulic shock and a gas charged shock.

I don't recall any of their shocks being capable of autoleveling although the RS9000/RS999 series of shocks have that "my ride" controller thing that lets you adjust dampening and valving from the driver's seat.

Just put my RSX17004's on this morning took em for a drive (corners, speed bumps, pot holes what not) they ride like a dream compared to my super shot stock shocks..
