To do a lift do I absolutely have to do both front and rear shocks and springs? or can i get a good result doing some combination of those?

Im working on getting OME Bilsteins but If i only need to, hypothetically and rhetorically, say front springs and rear shocks why not only do that.

Thanks.

Your springs are wore. You could half ass a lift together just to get a little height. Suggest measuring http://www.jeepkj.com/forum/f203/actual-lift-amount-lets-compare-fender-heights-39094/ . You will then have a base line. I think a lift/spring replacement is some of the best bang for the buck even if you do not go off road.

yeah i dont go off road. i want to be atleast to stock height but id love to be a little above like id get if i did the full ome bilstein. plus im not experience enough nor do i have the tools to do a clevis.

just wait until you have the money to do it right the first time...

yeah i know what youre saying. im probably going to but i wanted to see

i guess if you had to do it in pieces, I would probably do the front completely, new shocks and coils, and maybe just do coils in the back, then shocks when you can afford it. Just because the front is much more labor intensive than the rear, you'll only want to take it apart and re-assemble once if you can manage it.

You want to go to OME / Bilstein which includes compressing springs but you cant slip 2" conduit nuts on your front shocks as you put it back together?

i personally cannot do any of it because i own 0 of the correct tools and have 0 knowledge of where to even start after the truck is on stands

I broke a bushing while doing my suspension so I only installed new shocks in the front. I wanted to do the rear but did not want to wait to order new parts. It still rides fine with the stockers in the rear and I'm not concerned. I plan on redoing my lift in it's entirety when I replace my ball joints. I need to put some sort of undercoating on there too.

Yeah, its not really possible without tools. Maybe you can borrow some from a friend or use it as an excuse to buy some tools. It is pretty easy to do and doesnt take much knowledge. The walkthroughs on here are pretty easy to follow and you can learn so much from the people here.

Could always ask for some help from others close by who have done many lifts

very true as there are a few lifted kjs and trucks where i live. but a quick question since youre the guru of all things kj.

I absolutely have to get the OME/Bilstein for the front. its sagging fast now so much that someone noticed the drop after a couple weeks of not seeing my truck.

the thing is that i cant do it in the back yet because i dont have the money. so if i do the front is there anything i can do for the rear to level things out and get by for 6-8 months until i can do the rear?

Yes not much you can do
but depending on amount of lift you did to the front or just stock you could throw in 2 upper isos in the rear and run for a while, not a good alternative but doable
I've done 4 or 5 lifts for people from the Cleveland area
you're not far away if you need some help / learning experience

I'd just wait until you have enough cash to do it all at once if I was in your situation.
Driving around for another month or two with bagged out suspension won't kill ya!
We drove around with bagged and sagged suspension for three years.

yeah ok ill probably do that then

ok that sounds good. i did some looking around and what if i did rancho rs5000 shocks with the OME springs? its a lot cheaper considering i found a place that sells all 4 shocks for $175 as compared to the ~$500 for the 4 bilsteins
