It is the Harbor Freight ATV cargo carrier bolted to a length of 1" steel tube that has been bed-liner-ed and then a rubber cane tip was added to each end. Then cut the front plastic to fit the carrier. Held down front and back with 4 turnbuckles using the cargo tie-downs of the Jeep. Here are some pics. The last one is a promised pic from a while ago.

New here and saw this as a good idea, been thinking of doing this or a security box. For a shelf I am thinking of making one but out of stainless or aluminum being that I work in a model shop and have access to sheet metal cutting and forming equipment and a tig welder...

I made mine with an aluminum frame along with a main shelf and two aux shelves. Page 12 of this thread has pics of when I was figuring out how I wanted to build it. Here's a picture of the finished product.

I now have mine drawn up in mastercam so just waiting for the sheet metal guy to flatten them and punch them out on the turret press at work. I will post pics when I finally get it done and also can provide a cad file too if need be.

new guy here, hello. This is my ghetto rear cargo shelf for my 2005 Liberty CRD diesel pig.

still workingon it, going to add a screen to prevent projectiles, and to mount molle style military pouches on the front of the screen. Also planning to add aluminum "wings" on each end of the rack (by the windows) , to bolt fire 5LB extinguisher mounts to. (i carry 2x5LB'ers)

I see you have a Coleman two-burner camp stove too... I have one that my dad bought new in 1974. That thing works great.

I think I have some spare 8020 lying around to go with the aluminum route.

The way Bushman did it with shackles is semi-permanent. I mean, short of using locktite on the threads...

a rated carabiner?
