Anything special I should know when I'm replacing this? Got pulled over tonight because the rear light was out over the license plate. I tapped on it when I got home and it flickered but didn't light up again. What sort of bulb does it need to replace it?

I haven't looked at it but I figure thats a push in and twist bulb, when you get it out look at the metal part and there should be a model number/letters on it just go to walmart or a parts store and get a replacement probably like a couple bucks no big deal

Is there an LED replacement available? If so - I'd get and fit one. LEDs seem to last forever:)

They do exist Super Bright LED's But is it worth it? The 168 is like $0.98 for a pack of two and they last at least 5 years. Or in my case, so far, 8 years.

LED is nice, but so is a cheap bulb.

Mine lasted < 4 years. Don't know why. Never got pulled over. A friend asked my why my plate light was out and like a dumba$$ I siad, I don't have one, never lit up before. So I honestly don't know when mine stopped working. I'm surprised the cop noticed yours KJzGal. When driving behind someone with a KJ at night, your headlights shine so bright against the plate, you hardly notice if the light is working.

Yeah but I'm kind of glad he did notice, because it probably would have been a long time before I did lol! I don't even know where he was sitting before he pulled me over either, he must have been hidden pretty well. I'm getting the replacement today before I leave for camp for the week.
