Depends, on most everyones OME or Bilsteins are best
But you have to remember I had a RL rear bumpser with dual swing outs, alsways carried over 5 gallon extra gas, Kilby gas tank skid, several pounds of extra parts/ tools , so the Monroes did last and work better although I hate Monroes generally
A good point. Monroe's typically do the bare minimum required at the minimum performance level for the cost... I've seen them do just fine on passenger cars, but their LT and SUV lineup doesn't seem to hold up over time in my experience.
This odd duality with Monroe's is what threw me with you, Tom.. because typically, Monroe=bad idea on a KJ. But in the specific use case you outlines, that makes sense.
