The latest thing to rip off

On the Canadian news last night they had a report that the newest automotive part to steal is the catalytic converter!
Why? They contain approximately 1.5 oz. of platinum.
The average price of a catalytic converter sells for $1000.00 Canadian.
One car dealership had 85 of them plucked right out from underneath the vehicles on their lot!
Privately owned SUV's and trucks have them stolen right in the owners driveway!
All this for a hit of ****** or crack.

Huh? Have you been to an Advance Auto Parts or a Pep Boys?

Pep Boys, yes. The booklet near the wipers does not show a rear wiper for Jeep Liberty. The computer at Pep Boys shows that the part is not available.

Not sure where there is an Advance Auto around these parts.

As I mentioned earlier, I bought a winter wiper blade for $1.00.
It came with an assortment of adapters (clips, pins, etc.) to fit a whole myriad of wiper arms.

Socks....you got the best deal right there. But be careful. They are probably made in China and are full of lead paint and asbestos so don't lick them.....haha

I stoppesd at Advance Auto today on the way home looking for something elce and walked by the wiper blades. They had 11" ones but I was in a hurry and didn't look close enough. They were several brands and all different prices and I don't recall but I think they were under $10.

Sadly they are. I tried looking for an 11" blade before.

I tried 3 auto parts stores. Out of all 3, they only had ONE 11" blade collecting dust.

Your results may vary. :p

Autozone stocks them online and in my local store.

Mid America Motorworks has them in their VW section online. I used to get mine for my super beetle there before autozone starting carrying them.

It just depends on how well you look.

Maybe the auto parts stores in my location are constantly sold out due to the massive amount of Libertys in the area? lol3.gif

I've used various wiper blades including the oem and they all have one thing in common, they keep falling off. You can buy a 13" and cut it to size like I did once or you can do what I finally did and buy a 13" generic winter wiper blade and put it on securing it with metal wire. The extra length actually makes it work better!

Well today I tried a generic "universal" 11 inch wiper. It did fit on the arm but nothing "clicked" to hold it in place. The autoparts place let me try it first before I paid, so they took it back with appologies.

So I went to the dealer today and bought the OEM piece. It was $12.60 before sales tax.

The part that the wiper arm hook slips over wraps around it and locks it it place with a click.

Maybe I will also wrap some galvanized wire around it to prevent casual swiping of the wiper.

just finished the manhunt for rear wipers...got a duralast 11" from autozone for $6, you just have to move the clip from the stock blade over to the new one and throw away the ones that come with it, they don't work
