Used a Kit from http://www.driveshaftparts.com it came with all that is needed to repair transfercase CV. Ordered on Tuesday received it on Friday,$81 and change shipped. part # ME-807. Was planning to take pictures then forgot. Replaced rear U-joints also that took care of some noise that I thought was the brakes somehow. The U-joints where tougher than the CV joint by a mile.195,537m. had pretty much assured the caps where seized in place,while none had "failed" all three should have been replaced long ago. Seems to roll a little easier.
Repaired front drive shaft,replaced rear U-joints.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am facing this as well.
I am in Canada and the dealer tells me you CAN NOT rebuild these shafts
and wants to charge me $800CDN for new one.
My boot had ripped and I did not catch it.
Noticed some drive line vibes and went below to have a check.
Rear boot gone.
How does this replacement part stack up?
My wife uses the Libby for work and puts about 125,000KMS a year.
I want to make sure the drive line vibes didn't damage my drive shaft.
Would hate to take 800 bucs out of my pocket if all I have to do is remove a clip.

Hey fellow Canadian, don't let the dealer Fawk U over. With the $CDN as good as it is order from the US. Try Ericautoparts, he's in the vendors section, or just call and order a replacement CV joint. Even after duty, exchange, shipping and taxes it'll way cheaper than getting one from a local Chrys/Dodge/Jeep dealer.

the guy that did my front driveshaft got the replacement CV from a local dealer. I dont knwo if they ordered it from driveshaftparts.com or what.. but i got the whole job done for $160.
Ya, when I called the dealer to see if I could get the cv joint only they said you couldn't that they don't make them.
I even quoted the part number from the driveshaft parts.com
and they said it was a scam.

How stupid do they think people are?
Up here in Canada we don't have the same awsome acces to parts that the states do. I will be placing an order however as even if duty hits $150 it's better than the butt kicking I will get from the dealer.

The part I ordered from driveshaftparts.com only lasted 6 months.
Is there a better quality part out there? A better fix?

They have a 1 year warranty so call them up.
Mine's been holding up fine for more than a year coming to 2 years now.

Agreed.
They are a good parts source and back up their products.
Mine has been on about three years and 75,000 miles or so and still going strong (prolly shouldn't write that out loud - it'll go bad now :emotions34: )

That is good to hear. When I have an issue with a part. My first thought it to use something different next time.
But everybody puts out a bad part sometimes. So I will give them another go as soon as I am able to go out and pull the driveshaft again.
I've done 5 or 6 and all have held up great, last one on the Kili is over 90,000 and will need replaced soon
On one of my friends I know he has well over 75-80,000 and no issues yet
But just like stock figure they should last about 70-75000 is it

I got my boot replaced for free when I found a pin hole in it.

I was going to pull the drive shaft. When I got under there the replacement part looked good.
The rattle seems to be coming from the drive shaft.
The front and rear seem good. But there is a noticeable sound from the driveshaft. My wife could here it click about 8' away when I shook it.
I took the driveshaft off this morning and confirmed that the rattle was from the rear joint that I rebuilt. going to send for another rebuild kit. It should be under warranty.
I'll have to see how their warranty works out. Hopefully they just send another unit.
It does not make a noticeable noise When driving - but we are half deaf and don't need to turn up the radio to hide noise. Our conversations normally involve saying What? a lot
It was a vibration I could feel in the seat that made me check originally. I just reached under, grabbed the driveshaft and felt movement
I saw a little grease on the floor pan above the rear joint that I changed. I am guessing now that maybe that was a little excess, because the boot looks good and the joint seems good - But it wasn't There was slop every direction in the joint once I got the driveshaft off.

Still fighting the front drive shaft. I recently installed a used front driveshaft with a new rear joint from driveshaft parts. We'll see how this combination lasts for us.
The place I took the Jeep to get the transmission rebuilt said they thought the front joint on my original front driveshaft was to stiff and was taking out the rear joint.
If this doesn't last, I will replace the whole driveshaft with a new driveshaft with different style joints - looks to be about the same price as a new OEM driveshaft. Maybe a tiny cheaper

They sell a kit for the front CV too. Just in case that is an option for you.
