I'm new to this site, and new to Jeeps in general. I just purchased a 2006 Liberty Limited 4x4 w/ 3.7. Beautiful vehicle, love the way it drives, but it does have some minor things I'd like to fix. One thing I didn't notice until today was that the left edge of my passenger side tail light lens is broken off. Everything works properly, but I do see how moisture could get into the housing.

My question is this:

Seeing that a lens/housing is almost $50, would that money be better spent on some sort of guard that would cover all the edges anyway? If so, what guards are out there that will stick with the "Jeep look." Don't want some ricer car looking covers. Thanks for any help!

P.S. Anyone have a tail light sitting around they'd like to unload for cheap instead?

The guards that are available are either very ugly or made of plastic. Usally when a guard is bent, it bends into the tail light, thus resulting in having to buy a new tail light and new guard.

Same concept as the LED tail lights, they break, your paying alot of fix them.

Honestly the only guard worth its while would be heavy wall tubing and welded onto a steel bumper.

I'd be ok with something made of plastic, but not ok with something ugly.

Just go to the junk yard and grab another tail light
I know theres some between Paden City and New Martinsville
I think Rustys is still open , but not sure haven't been there in a while

Yep, find one in a salvage yard. Might scrounge other "goodies" while you're at it.

Ok, I'm amazed you know where Paden City is. LOL! I'm not familiar with Rusty's (or any junkyards to be honest).

When you said you were new to Jeeps we pretty well knew you were a scrapyard virgin as well. :ROFLJest:

Grew up on the Ohio side from you, my Uncle was Police Chief in New Martinsville for several years, chased things I shouldn't have chased all over both sides of the river :icon_lol:

Not sure if I have any spares or not yet, have to check at one time had 4 sets of extras
I'll dig through today

Thanks for checking!
I almost never come across anyone online (or in real life, if you get 50 or more miles away) who has ever heard of this area.
