Yeah, I get flamed at every forum I go to.
I've gotten used to it.
I'll admit, though, I couldn't have said it better myself.
Now, back on topic.....
I did find ONE Renegade w/lightbar and everything else. It fits the budget and it's a CommandTrac. It's even an 06 It also has 99.5K miles. Bummer...
Hell, how hard can it be to install that lightbar?
LoL I'll have to look up that How-To, then. I'm more than handy with a good set of tools so self-installation won't be an issue.
Now sure, I'd rather find a Renegade with that option already there but LOL I'm going to be doing all the maintenance/repair to it, anyway.
Speaking of which......
What are the things I should be watching out for?
Sooooo..... LOL, what's the scoop on the Liberty?
To add...............An addendum to LibertyFever's post:
YOU CAN use SelecTrac's Full Time mode for Offroading, as I said before. The difference is the torque split. In a KJ, the split, in FT4WD mode is 48% Front, 52% Rear. Part Time mode's split is 50/50, and that is why you cannot use THAT for dry pavement. That 2% isn't a huge difference.
In other words, it doesn't matter. You just can't use PT mode on dry pavement. That's why it's called Part Time.
With the '06s...
- Definitely the window regulators. Speaking of junk :freak3:
- Upper ball joints
- Blower motor resistor (though at $15 bucks and 7 minutes to replace not a big deal)
- Sagging springs/bad shocks - but that's a great excuse for some lifted fun. See the Lift Discussion section. (Go with the 2.5" OME springs/Bilstein shocks :smokin: )
- Transfer case position sensor (Thanks to a GREAT How-To here on this site it's a far easier fix than the Service Manual indicates)
- Front driveshaft CV joint. Same as above - thanks to a vendor here and a How-To a 30 minute/$75 repair
Others may chime in who have 06's with other things to watch for. Overall the Libby is a tough truck that will last a long time with standard maintenance.
Bob
Different type of CV joint, not on a drive axle but the front driveshaft going from the t-case to the front diff.As for CV joints: I've heard so many horror stories about them... then I tried one myself (albeit on a Saturn). I don't know what the big deal is....

Yeah, I've read about those window regulators. Ok so -1.
Ball Joints? LOLOLOLOL!!!!! I've done so many ball joints that I cannot even count that high! Ok, next?
