It all depends on what he wants to do with it. 900 for the aev is high priced compared to Teraflex or rk (the 2 I looked at). Mine was a shade over 7 with shocks for a 3.5.

Clayton makes good quality HD arms
Yeah it will end up costing $2000+
You paid $700 for what
Springs and Shocks?
My shocks will end up costing over $600
The springs another $360+
Long arms ? Not sure building my own

If I did go coil overs I was looking at $500+ per corner
and still need long arms

Springs shocks track bar sway bar links. Track bar bracket. I want but have never need for long arms. I also got my kit 2 years ago. They are a lot cheaper now and come with the complete set up for way less than most of the competition

I dd mine on the 3.5 lift. The only thing I want to add is the front steering set up from rk and I'd still be way less than aev

And you adjusted you pinion how?
Oh yeah the JK is so great it does not need the pinion
angle adjusted
And I bet it rides great
With the LCA's at a 45* angle and twin tube shocks

Just guessing at the shocks and being obnoxious
about the LCA angle
But I know mine sucked until I moved the LCA's at the axles
and now with the Bilstein 5150's out back and either 5160 or
7100 short body up front it should ride way better
Then Clayton or Rustys or DIY long arms
And it will be a different Jeep
Not that it really matters about on road quality
wife's new ride can tow it an a trailer

Upper rears purchased after I got an after market rear drive shift. Pinion angle is great, no vibs

For a TJ or JK you do not need any lift to fit 35" tires.Just a sawsall or highline kit,of course regearing is required also.


I'd skip anything from RK,NHTSA has recalls listed for RK on every IFS Jeep for sending grade 2 hardware.They got caught once does not mean they won't try again.

My guess is 5100's
Which are not bad but are also there "bottom of the line"
What problem do you have?
They have a life time warranty ,on the 5100's
and you can buy them with different valvings for
a softer or stiffer rides depending on your taste
Or you can at least buy the higher end 51XX
with different valvings as well as the 6100 and 7100
The highere end shocks will require a stem to eye converter
No matter the brand ,Fox ,King or Bilstein

No matter what brand you buy
Buy all 4 not just 2

They ride pretty hard. Not nearly as bad as the sky jacker nitros I had but I do have a lot of girl friends that talk about it being rough.

I can assure you that you did not pay $700
for 4 springs and 4 5150's unless you bought it seperate
and within the past month
5150's retail for $150 each give or take
And the are dropping them from the line up
Not to mention that they are a "cross flow design"
and are a ***** to get to fit on the front

I would bet that you have 5100's with their standard
255/70 valving
To get any thing different will cost you

I just realized that you have miss
matched shocks
2 good quality
2 not so much
Probably the fronts that are to mushy

And if you purchased a "kit"
how did you end up with miss matched shocks?

Rk wasn't making shocks when I got mine so I decided to be hard headed and go with sky jacker. I replaced the fronts when I didn't have a job so I bargain shopped. The rears I got brand new from 4wp and everyone here and there said Bilstein so that's what I went with

Yep. If you're willing to hack your rig a bit, it's doable. You can also go with flat flares and accomplish the same thing.

What are you talking about?
You can install Genrite tube fenders up front
and their full corners rear with a 3" flare on both and clear
33's with OE length bump stops on a TJ
Add a very small ,2" or so, lift and extend the bump stops
and there you have rooms for 35's
But you still need gears
I don't know these specs on a JK
But considering that they come stock with a 32" OD
tire I would say 33's with tube fenders is do able

Not talking about the tj. I don't have one nor have I studied them much. The JK will be tearing fenders off flat or not if you put a 35 inch Tire on it stock height. And for 35's and an auto you need gears. That's what I'm going through now. With the 6 speed its Def. Recommended by the heavily modded guys but I know a lot of people who have been fine without them.

Btw that overdrive gear is a joke with 3.73 gears and man tires. If your going around 70 and you don't hit to big of a hill and there's no wind you'll be ok

I've seen a Wrangler with 42" tires with 2" of lift,works better then your Wrangler offroad since it was actually geared correctly with 5.38's and a 6.1 HEMI.
