I know some would never use rockauto, but I'm sure some do. I get discount codes now and then do I thought I'd share it in case anyone needs parts.

The code is 1636947513545962. It expires 9/29/13. It's not a huge discount (5%) but ever dollar helps. It's good online only. When you place your order just enter the code in the "how do you here about us" box and the discount will be calculated. As many people can use it as want and it can be used unlimited amount of times. So if anyone wants to use it feel free.

Thanks for posting that - but be sure to check the Preferred Vendors section of the Forum. RockAuto posts discount codes for JeepKJ members and using that code enables RockAuto to see that we use their services via the code they provide to us. The current code is good through August 14, 2013.

I would hope that many would use RockAuto - they've been a strong supporter of JeepKJ.com for a while and I believe they deserve my business as well as others who learn how to maintain their Jeeps thanks to this forum.

Support our supporters! :party52:

Rockauto is great. It's better than most big box parts stores. Prices are great, fast shipping, and they have everything. If it's not listed on the standard online catalog, a little search and you will probably find they have it. I just did the bearings and brakes on my dd. the dealer wanted $1200. I found the parts on rockauto and they were the original Ac delco parts listed by the dealer. I did the job myself with the same parts the dealer would have used for $300. I use them alot.

I didn't know if both codes could be used together so I just listed this one too.

I just received my strut mounting kits for the front of my 05 Liberty ordered and delivered in less than a week. This at about half the price of the local parts store including shipping. I have used Rock Auto before and will again.

The discount they give via email and here on the forum are the same - same percentage. It all depends on whether or not you want to show that the traffic and purchase is JKJC-driven or not.

But, I also agree... we've gotten some pretty nice deals by using Rock Auto as well. :)

May have to look again at them
Tried to find what I needed a couple of times but always found what I needed cheaper locally
Plus I hate to wait on something 5 days to save 3 bucks

Most of the time I've found rockauto to be much cheaper. They have options as well so you can decide what quality and price works best. I usually call around here first then go to rockauto and 1 other online store I use. Rockauto usually has the exact same part (manufacturer, etc) for less. They also carry many oe car manufacturer parts. If you can't seem to find the parts in the catalog, you may need to run a search on the site for the part. I've found that they don't list everything in the regular catalog under the specific vehicle. Also check the close outs. A lot of times I've found them not listed under the vehicle in the catalog. I've gotten continental belts and many other things for under $2 that way. The shipping is pretty fast but it is still a wait.

The biggest complaint I have is when different parts come parts being shipped directly from the supplier or another warehouse. Then you have to pay shipping from each location. That adds up fast so you need to make sure you're still saving enough for it to be worth it. Last order I paid shipping from 3 different locations and got 3 different packages in the mail. Getting more packages is always fun tho I guess. If you look thru the options of parts you can avoid this sometimes. I have still found I save a lot more even with shipping.

Like anything else you need to shop around and check prices. Rockauto is just a great place to check.

You guys have to wait that long for shipping? I must live close to their distribution center... 1-2 days for anything I've ever ordered from them.

that is exactly my biggest issue with ordering from them. sometimes the shipping is the same as the parts. :fca5278d:

Same here. It's fast processing and shipping. Even when they come from multiple places. My last order came from 3 different places. I had everything within 3 days.

Yep. But with the selection you can usually find the parts you need that can ship from the same place. If you want a specific brand you may have to pay shipping from multiple locations. I have only run into it a couple times where shipping and the parts weren't cheaper than in town.

Just have to make sure you look at the total cost when you are shopping around. I don't think I've bought a part in town for a couple years now.

Last thing I looked at was wiper blades, mid priced ones with shipping was as much as I could walk into NAPA and get their best. Now granted this was 2-3 years ago but wondered why everyone was buying from them at that time. Of course I do get "repair shop" prices at NAPA but still ????????

Never bought wiper blades from them. I have bought an awful lot of parts from them over the years, but only those that were still cheaper factoring in the shipping (and those I didn't need right away).
