Funny... we just did our first trip with exactly the same problem; which is why I was looking at this thread.

The Factory roof rails seem to be coming apart so I was looking at the Rocky Road rails.

I might even get a metalworker to join them with two bars so I can attach the roof-tent directly to the rack.

Interestingly it seems that whatever our original gasket was has failed because there is rust just above the rear hatch glass.

factory rails are more for looks than anything else really. RRO side rails are fine if you want to haul something light but anything that requires a good slid mount needs to be built as one solid piece ( side rails/ support beams etc. )
Even if you use bolt on cross bars like from RRO you will have movement .
I would mention one builder that does make a heavy duty setup, but some on here dislike it when the name is mentioned .
