Since the lift is on my roof rack bangs against my garage door top.

How close of a fit is it, not? Over the years, a garage door tends to hang lower than when new, due to the springs getting weaker. Is there room for the door to go up more? A spring adjustment (if you have coil springs on the header), or replacing stretched out pull springs would give the door a lift. This spring lift concept sure sounds familiar!

Know what you mean about being close
If I came in that garage a little too hot you could hear it just touch
4 inch lift with 32s and the RL rack
You must be registered for see images attach

Pfff thats close, I can't do 4" lift with a roof rack here for sure.. Kinda worried about what happens when I add couple of clevis conduit nuts when I get my JCA UCAs..

unfortunately I live in an apartment building (city boy) so I can't really mess with the garage door to make it open higher.

But I AM gonna take the useful advice about attaching the rails to the rack from the inside before mounting it back to the roof rails.

This forum rocks :favorites37:

Glad we could help!

But seriously... do you HAVE to park in the garage? I think that's the only reason the wife said go ahead and go taller, any taller than i am and its roof rack or street parking... me thinks she wants the garage haha

Funny thing when I did my SFA swap I measured my carport to make sure I would clear,I have 1" but I'm to tall for the courthouse parking garage so I never have to do jury duty:happy107:

1st I've ever seen a parking garage for a courthouse,my hometowns courthouse was all street parking. You can park on the street also where I"m at now but it's all metered and would be a 2 mile walk at min to park in a non-metered spot. The meters only go for 1 hour and your not allowed to go put change in while doing jury duty so I get excused every time before the date to go.

Sounds like your courthouse has a strict ticket quota to meet lol :D only up to an hour? Last time I had to sit through court I was there for 5 hours.. cant imagine going into court and paying a fine, to come out and see a ticket on my windshield :happy175:

i broke the motor on my garage door when i lived in IL , they make those townhome bs. garage doors short , i could get in the garage if i held the door up with something, then realized if i pushed it up till it cleared the roof lights it could just sit on the roof rack till i got in. it only squeeked on the rubber piece on the bottom of the door, and apparently when we put down the snow guard for the garage door when winter came, it was 1/8" too much and crunch went the worm gear on the door >.<

cost me a wholleee 9 dollars to get a new worm gear delivered.. the company i got it from just had one of their installers drop it by the house as they were doing installs.. and tbh they were quicker than UPS usually was lol

Well couldn't get the cross bars to fit the rails once those were mounted from the inside of the roof rack (not enough clearance). Had to let go of the roof rack for now...
