the 02 came with 16", im gona lift it but this looks like a great buy. So if i get these their gona set till i can afford a lift LOL

Those have a different bolt pattern than the KJ. You would need adapters to run those. Older Jeeps have a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern newer Jeeps have a 5 x 5 pattern. You would also need a lift, those are pretty big tires.

I'm running General Grabber AT2 245/75R16's but that is as big as I can go without rubbing and they are very agreeable on the road.

If you are lifted then yes no problems, if not the extra width will make them rub
I have ran mine for over 4 years now with 4 different size tires, progressively bigger each time

Is that a silver lower control arm Tomm? Or is it just a light reflection?

OK...so now I am a tad confussed. I have one post saying that there wouldn't be any issues (possibly just meant on the rims physically fitting), and another mentioning that they will rub if the Jeep isn't lifted.

So let me rephrase my question. On my stock suspension Limited (with OEM 16"), will I have any issues with a set of 16" Rubicons? Are Rubicons wider?

OK on a stock suspension Liberty and using Moabs which are 16X8 ( 8 inches wide) you will have rubbing on the pinch weld and the bumper in the front. This is due to the extra width. You also get into what tires you will be running. Some run a 245-70 on them but that is stretching the tire a bit. And as you know unlifted you are stuck with a narrow type tire due to the room you have in the fender

I have an '06 with factory tires (225/75/16).
I changed my factory steel rims to the Moab's and had no rubbing with this size tire.
Any size wider or taller will rub, so I have done a clevis lift and bent down my pinch welds for my next set of tires.

Tom's concern is probably that a 225mm wide tire is fairly narrow for an 8" wide rim. Not that there will be, but such conditions can cause bead retention problems and/or unusual wear. It also means that the rim is generally the widest exposed part and is more prone to "rock rash" with no rubber extending past the rim lip.

It is not really a hard and fast rule, just a possibility. It was rumored that Jeep went with the heavy-sided e-rated 245 MT/R's to assist with bead retention on the 8" wide moab rim. (dunno)

When I first got my Moab rims, I tried putting on my 235/70/16's with no luck. The tires were too small to stretch across the 8" rim...so I went and bought 245/75/16 BFG's and no problem with mounting them.

The 225's are a bit thin (8.85in) for an 8in wide rim, but no problems mounting them. I would definitely not off-road them.

245's are scheduled on my September budget.
Until then it's a 6 mile daily commute to work and an occasional 25 mile trip to the beach.
