Hey guys, so, I need some serious help here, I just bought a 2004 Liberty, V6, 4x4. 165k on it. Check engine light was on when I bought it, I had the P0038 code (driver side rear o2) come up. I have an pretty good code reader but it would not clear. --- code would not clear. I thought that was odd, I have never had that happen before on any car. Normally, when there are o2 code it will clear and then come back after a drive cycle. I said what the hell, replaced the driver side rear o2, it was cheap and easy. Still would not clear. OK, so, still have JUST the P0038 code. I checked power at the plug, Im not 100% how to check voltages and whatnot, but, I used my voltmeter and seems like I have power at the plug. So, even if there are fuses there, seems like they are fine but I dont think there are o2 fuses. So, seems like to me I have an ECM issue. Thoughts? Anything else to check?
I called the dealer that has worked on it before and that o2 had recently been replaced, so I know guys will say to only use OE parts, but, in this case I think the problem is deeper. Even if the o2 I installed is junk, the light should still go off and then come back on, when I say it will not clear, it will not clear at all
