I have done all scheduled maintenance according to the schedule since new. i took ownership around 60k, but up till 60k it had all scheduled maintenance. at 72 I had a maintenance i thought??

i think 90k is ****** fluid, plugs?

I drop and replace the filter and oil in the ****** every 30k but I dont believe my OM calls for it till 60k.

It calls for the spark plugs and transfer case every 30k and the front and rear diffs every 15k. Although I personally believe if you change the diffs at 15k to get the break in metals out and off the magnet and do not offroad or tow much, then it should be ok to do those every 30k.

Wouldnt be a bad idea to go ahead and drain the antifreeze and replace that along with the radiator hoses, t-stat, and engine belt. Ill probably do all of that at 60k. Ill probably do the power steering fluid at 30k and 60k also.

Ohh, and dont ask tjkj what he thinks about all of that, he changes all of that every 10k miles.:p:D

the transfer case is only to be inspected at 30k and done at 60k according to the manual.

It doesnt take 10sec to do and I dont believe 30k at all(even though it says that). Mine was brown when I drained it and it should be red.

Also, one of these makes it ALOT easier to refill the tcase and the diffs.

I picked it up at walmart for $8 or so and its worth it!

Kinda OT but since jeepjeepster mentioned it...
When you change your belts and hoses, if they are still working ok, save them as spares. I keep my old extra set in my off road bag that goes on trips w/ me just in case I or another KJ breaks a belt of springs a leak in a hose.

I had to use the spare lower hose in my XJ once to fix someone elses rig. Sure comes in handy.

Now does one need to change the differential lubricants that often is one does not go Off Road with the vehicle. These change periods seem awfully short to me every 30,000 miles .
But what the Hell do I know....

I would change out the factory stuff that early or earlier but if you use a good quality full synthetic gear oil at that change then you could easily go up to another 100K before changing as long as you don't wheel in water or tow often. Regardless, you shouuld keep an eye on the level and to look for obvious signs of contamination.

****** fluid turns brown after use, doesnt necessarily mean the fluid is bad. ATF fluid is made red to distinguish itself from other fluids, but does not stay red, just FYI

I cant figure out how to cut just a section of the PDF from the FSM or I would have posted the schedule. After asking I ended up getting the information, thanks
