It will wreck the cats if it's burning oil, how long it will take is unknown. Have you checked to see if the oil is leaking underneath anywhere? You may be lucky (ish!) And have a small leak somewhere, but the bad smell isn't encouraging.
No definitely no leaks... Swapped to 5W40 today since it's still scorching hot in Greece right now and see how it goes.

On the bright side we managed to trace down the drivetrain vibration(s). Apparently there were 2 sources. The front skidplate was bound on the front diff essentially projecting all engine vibrations to the unibody and making everything more pronounced and the second source is a badly aligned flexplate due to the shady shop who did the engine swap.

Going to get a new aluminum skid for the front from Axion parts which is a Greek company I discovered on this forum, and fix the flexplate alignment as soon as possible.

I just posted a warning about mismatched engines/transmissions/PCMs/TCMs. Go look at that before you buy anything or start any work.

Guy quick update after quite some while trying to tackle the vibration.

Apparently the engine for my KJ was sourced from a 2002 KJ with the 45RFE trans. It seems that mine with the 42RLE has slightly different TC mating diameter (not sure about the technical term). I have found it out when pulling out the trans for a full rebuild.

Both engines have the exact same crankshaft, the only difference is that post 04/2003 with the 42RLE have a small steel insert which actually decreases this diameter so that the TC can sit flush. The difference in diameter was quite substantial 42mm for the 45RFE and 33mm for the 42RLE.

So my TC was actually "floating" and not mating correctly which caused all these vibrations. Thankfully nothing was damaged (a lot).

Learning new things about a 25 yo car has some special charm to say the least.
