im not 100 percent sure if these shocks im looking at will work with a 2 inch lift kit, (bds kit designed to use stock front shocks), im looking at either rancho rs999764, or these shocks from bilstein: http://cart.bilsteinus.com/product/24-139168/1432212

if anyone on here knows whether or not they will work please let me know and if not point me in the direction of a set that will work
thanks,
chris

I think he's looking for just front struts. So yes, he's correct - the new Bilstein part number 24-139168 (aka F4-BE5-D916-H0) is the correct front strut for KJ.

Just bought these and the box has both part numbers.

Chris, check out allshocks.com they should have these around $90, much cheaper than the rs999764 and used by many on the boards so plenty of reviews/opinions.

Rs9000xl

Considered going the RS9000XL route as there was a free compressor and plumbing promo before Christmas but couldn't get the price I wanted as I'm in Canada - so bought Bilstein. There are some people here, on LOST and on the Aussie forums who run them so shouldn't be any issues IMHO.

According to specs for the RS999764 when I was shopping they have a compressed length of 7.62 inches (close to the OME) but an extended length of 12.07 inches (so travel of 4.45 inches) This is close to the travel of the Rancho RSX and RS5000 but when I emailed them got no decent explanation as to why they seemed to have a slightly shorter compressed/extended length than some others...

They are meant for the Libby and the ability to dial in the end compression for different ride conditions (or automagically if you have the compressor kit) seemed like a very neat feature... would probably be nice to have something like this in the rear if towing a camper.

Take this advice with a caveat - I've never used RS9000XL myself so cannot comment on the ride. Search around to get some reviews first or on a lark see if your place might have the old discontinued RSX in stock - they were really popular.

(RSX17505 was the old front strut part#)
