Hi. I keep getting a tiny amount of oil on the bottom of my filter. I keep wiping it off, but it comes back. Not enough to drip or change the oil level. Can I leave it like that for the next 3000 miles until it's time to change again or could it hurt something? Thanks.

Make sure the filter is tight-and check the oil pressure sensor to see is it is leaking-known problem.

Everything looks fine. Not sure why I keep getting a small drip on the bottom of the filter. The gasket must not be sealing perfectly.

The only other thing then is the seal is leaking or when you took the old filter out the gasket did not come out with the filter and stuck up there and now there are 2 gaskets and if this happens it will leak. (don't ask me how I know this)

The old gasket came off. Must be the seal leaking. Is this something I need to be concerned with? It's just a tiny dribble of oil, doesn't affect the level on the dipstick.

I just wasn't sure if it did any harm or not.

Yeah, but is it a tiny dribble a second or a minute or an hour ......or ? It would make me nervous and I would be checking the oil all the time. But maybe I am OCD.

just south of doucheville
if it is only on the filter and not making a mess
not lowering the level I would let it be
only thing you could try is replacing the filter
could be a bad gasket

Leaking crankshaft seal

I had the EXACT same issue, finally took it to the dealer for analysis and fix. $300 later, problem fixed. Unfortunately it's really labor intensive and not likely something you can do yourself.
