Well this little gizmo is ment for the JK's with the 42RLE ******,which is a zero modifcation and bolt on,but I can't see why it won't be the same for the KJ with the 42RLE,might also work for those with the 45RFE and 545RFE.You simply remove the rear ****** to t-case adapter and bolt this baby inbetween the stock(or aftermarket t-case like the AtlasII),adding another 2.72:1 reduction,so if using the stock t-case it'll drop you to 5.44:1 low range, and your not needing to modify your driveshafts or anything. In theory it will work on the KJ's also, just a thought.

Sounds like a nice mod, except for one thing:

If I'm understanding you correctly, it appears that this add-on is not driver-selectable, i.e. it would mean that all your gears are 2.72x lower all the time. If so, your mileage would be horrendous on the way to the trail, since you'd be revving at about 5000 RPM to maintain 60 MPH. Am I missing something here?

It's selectable via a shift cable,it bassically the Atlas 4-speed reduction box by itself and has it own shifter to switch between 1:1 and 2.72:1 ranges.

It appears to be selectable. If it's selectable in 2WD then I'd be happy with a 2.72:1 Reverse
It would give you basically a 3 speed t-case..............

1:1----RubiCrawler set to 1:1(hi) and t-case set to 2hi or 4hi
2.72:1----RubiCrawler set to low(2.72:1) and t-case set to 2hi or 4hi,RubiCrawler set to hi(1:1) and the t-case in 4hi
5.44:1----RubiCrawler set to low(2.72:1)and the t-case set to 4low(2.72:1) for a total of a 5.44:1 low range

It also will give you the option of 2wd(rear only) low of 2.72:1.

any idea how much it goes for?
We'll find out winter of '08.

It will not be cheap but since no other mods are required it will be worth it.I'm guessing about $1000-$1500,about on par with a Klune under/overdrive units which require aditional mods that equals more $$$ overall.

Just look at it this way,new t-case with at least 4:1 low gear=$2000-$3000.Then you got to buy new driveshafts, about $500-$1000.In a KJ that also means some front diff mods and crossmember mods, about another $50-$200.So your looking at about $2600-$4000 to add a lower geared t-case.Granted I'm doing this myself but the new driveshafts where going to be needed so why not the ultimate t-case-----the AtlasII with 4.3:1 low gear.

Man... in that case I want one. And while I'm at it, a Frankenlift, and an ARB rear locker.

Im sure if you got the kj in a tight spot it would be a lot easier to pop that front diff.

Neat deal for sure though. 2:71 2wd would be sweet! Talk about some mean burn-outs! (Large green smilie goes here).
