Besides the wrangler is there an new SUV that comes with a solid front axle anymore? I can't think of one.

Jeep is NOT a SUV....and no I don't think there are any solid axle SUV's.

That's a big negative. They're all IFS/IRS or IFS/SRA now.

Yeah they are all IFS
I kept telling the "purest" that they need to get over it
when the KJ came out and they all downed Jeep for "selling out"
with the IFS they held on the their XJ's and Grands for dear life then the IFS
Grand came along and what a slap now all that is left is the JK
I say just give jeep time and the Wrangler name will get a further smeering
than it did when they made the 2wd JK as they will soon be no more
and every SUV will be IFS
I can only hope that Jeep will not sell out and keep the what little of the
"pure" Wrangler is left and not go IFS but they will
"Money talks and BS walks"

If they ever stopped making the wrangler then that would be a shame. It's one of a kind! Perhaps they will eventually improve on independent suspension so that it rivals the solid axle. Or maybe they will go back to the solid axle sometime in the future.

In the UK (and everywhere except North America I think) the Landrover Defender, the Toyota Landcruiser 105 (as opposed to the 100), the Nissan Patrol and the Suzuki Jimny are all available with solid front and rear axles!

They still coms with SFA and are about the same size as a Grand

nothing wrong with IFS just VERY limited wheel travel
Hummers are just to big and goofy to take out on 90% of the trails in this country
The simple fact is that if you want TRUE off road performance then SFA is a must ,larger tires and more flex
if it were not then people would not be doing SFA swaps on KJ's

After looking at both of the suspensions.... deeply, for a while now, I think IFS, if properly engineered could equal or outperform the solid axle offroad.
It is not properly engineered for that task on the Liberty.

Take one of those hummers rock crawling and you will see why IFS ***** for serious offroading. Its more expensive, more complicated, and harder to fix.
Ditto.........and they won't fit anywhere off road around here unless you run a dozer before it.
I never understood why they wern't made with a SFA.......

Why is IFS chosen? Better ride quality.
"IFS ***** for serious offroading" Maybe so but most people who buy a modern 4X4 don't do any serious off roading! In fact the only off roading they do is when they cut a corner and run over the side walk and drive off a curb.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that A SFA isn't awesome, hell, money permitting I'll install one in our rig!
It's just that the same "Purists" that didn't like front wheel drive now mostly drive them as well! Give it time and SFA in a production vehicle will go the way of the Dinosaurs. So will petro chemical fuels.
