Hi - just acquired a 2003 KJ Sport with 84 K miles that seems to be in pretty good shape. This is my first 4X4, but I do have a SXS and dirt bikes and am relatively mechanically competent. My first question is regarding shifting into the various modes vs what is indicated on the dash. This is the system with 2H, 4H, Neutral, and 4L. With the shifter in the 2H position, I get "Part Time" on the dash which I think conflicts with the owners manual. When I shift into 4H, there are no indications on the dash. 4L gives me "4 LO" on the dash. I played around in the dirt a little and all of the shifter positions seem to work as they are supposed to. Any thoughts?
I mainly bought the KJ for daily driver/moderate off road use, and plan to do the 2 ish inch OME lift in the next couple of months. It currently has very new all terrain 245/70-R16s on stock rims so I'm going to leave those alone for now. Other than that I will probably add some recovery points and skid plates and call it good.
Oddly enough it didn't have a hitch on it. The hitch recall and an airbag recall showed up when I went to register it. Hopefully I get a free hitch installed from the local Jeep dealer.
