Anybody here sound deaden their doors in their Liberty? Does it make much of a difference in sound? I'm not going to bother deadening my doors if it doesn't help the sound at all.

Sound deadening was offered from the dealer (not the doors though)... but my first thought was, "Why would I do that? It's a Jeep." :D

Ooops, let me clarify. I was looking a deadening my doors because my 6.5" mid-bass drivers in the doors don't output much bass. They sound hollow. I've read that deadening the doors could help this.

Dynamat

I've used Dynamat before. Clean the surface and stick it on. Works great for killing vibrations and "dampening" sound. Put it in doors and on the underside of trunk lids when I did some car stereo installs.

The only 100% effective sound deadener I know of is the voice of my ex-wife. Couple of seconds of that and I don't hear anything anymore. Except for the the screaming of my soul as it slowly dies.

It would be pretty hard to get inside of the doors too apply sound deadening but it would be very easy to apply it to inside shell where your speaker is mounted. It may cut down on that hollow sound but it may not be enough to notice. Id like to apply it to my doors to help cut down on rattles. The fenders on the rear doors rattle, idk if sound deadening would help or not though.

Personally I use RAAM audio products.

In my experience it's cheaper than Dynamat and easier to work with. Also the owner personally handled my order.

I havn't put any onto my Jeep yet, but when I installed the "RAAMmat BXT II" and "Ensolite™ IUO" into my VW Passat is made a huge difference in sound quality (and the Passat is designed to be quiet).

My plan is to just spray some rubberized undercoating through the access areas of the door onto the backside of the door skins. this product works pretty good for settling down vibrations of sheet metal. not as good as mat material, but i think it will be a slight improvement, and much easier than applying anything else in there
