Thanks for the complements.

Its welded to my front hitch that I made a few yeats back. Thats attached to where the factory tow hooks mount up. The entire front hitch is 3/8 inch steel and the mounting for the bumper is 1/4 angle. All seams beavled and cap welded with 250amp mig. The c channel is welded to the angle iron. Then spaces filled with 12ga sheet.

I'm planning on painting it with rustolem hammered black after I get all the welds prettied up and smoothed out where needed to be.

I might do a grill guard bar like the rocklizard bumpers. I just don't really know where to get the pipe bent. Might use 1.5 tubing for it.

Nice and great ideas. A local muffler shop can bend the pipe for you.

This morning I worked on the bumper little bit more. Capped off both sides. I added some edge trim to the edges along the grill and the turn signals.

A welder is at the top of my list for things to get. I like what you've done so far way better then just sticking a tj bumper up front!

Thanks! You can get a harbor freight 180amp mig for 150 or a 90 amp for 99. I have one and has abused the crap out of it. It actually welds better than my Miller "at times". The Miller has to be cleaned all the time and goes thru tips like mad. That HF one has had the same tip thru three spools of wire.

I paid 650 for the Miller and its 220v
I paid 200 for the HF with auto darking hood and extra supplies. Its 110v.

The Miller welds better no doubt but not everyone has a 220 hookup and a shop.

Other than the 1/4 steel welding I did the rest of the welding with the HF. I'm a cert welder and I could of welded it with the HF but the Miller makes it soo much eaiser welding thick stuff.

Just food for thought. Its better to have a welder that's cheaper than no welder at all.

Cool that's good to know that a welder from HF will get the job done, got a 20% off coupon for HF in the mail might have to go get a welder soon. Been looking at the 180amp one don't need top of the line to start either.

We have an Eastwood MIG 180 and it's been awesome. Got the gas setup from HF with coupon, then gas from a local supply house.

It has paid for itself over and over and over again.

Few more pictures. Still have to smooth everything out and figure out how I want the grill bar. Also paint it. Thinking of hammered black paint. Not too bad for total under $50

I'm not too sure about the bedliner. We will see maybe in the future. Before I bedline my fenders and bumper I need to get my ac fixed.

Nice work, 4X4!

Looking forward to seeing the winch mounted up too. :peace:

Bob

That will be awhile. I have the winch plate but need a winch. I'm gonna make it a tight fit to keep it clean.

Thanks for the positive comments!

I like it a lot with the hoop. I wish I had the time/place to build a bumper for mine too.
