So, I am leaving island for a little over a week tomorrow and I'm trying to figure out what to do with Mr. Darcy. I really want to check him into the dealership to get a service done, look at my tiny tiny transmission leak, and get my window fixed (back window is down periscope) but I honestly think they are mentally handicapped!

In order to save my temper I won't go through the whole thing, but I called to see how much it would be for a service and they guy didn't understand a thing I was saying, questioned my wanting new spark plugs, and told me it was impossible not to change the oil if they do a service. So with the window broken I don't want to leave him sitting alone for 9 days, but I sure as hell don't want to pay those idiots to fix it!

So, I'm not really sure what my question is. Except for I guess does anyone have any MacGuiver fixes for the window? I just want it to stay up, I'll see if I can find a cheap part to fix it when I'm in the states. Then when I get back I'll see if I can get the boy to do most of the service stuff, but he said he refuses to go to the transmission pan and deal with that gasket, so I'm at a loss again.

Anybody want to take a trip to the Caribbean and do some work on Mr. Darcy? I'm a decent cook and I've got a killer view. There are other things the Caribbean is known for as well... :smokin:

Steiger Performance - Liberty Window Regulator Wizard

window regulator fix part.

The boy can do plugs etc.

Transmission flush , pan drop filter change is best done at dealer provided your "tiny tiny leak" isn't a bigger issue.

Assuming you bought a new radiator after your problems, so a coolant flush won't be required.

diffs and transfer case can be done yourself if money is tight. Just need some ATF +4 and gear oil, non limited slip.

Thanks for the info! I actually had my transmission fluid changed within the last 6 months, I'm too lazy to get up and grab my phone so I'm not sure exactly when, but the leaking just started so I don't think it's related. And it's serious a penny sized dot on the ground every morning. I'll see if I can find the stuff I need cheap when I'm in Tennessee, apparently places like walmart sell automotive stuff?!?!

And Tom, seriously you plan a trip to St. Thomas I will hooks it up. Also, I saw you might be in Oak Ridge this weekend, I'm going to steal a car (or jeep if I can find one!) and drive over on Sunday!

Could be the transmission hoses - mine went bad last winter at about 70k. Started like you said, but quickly the "nightly leak" grew much bigger.

Had the dealer replace and it was $300 or so IIRC.

it is the transmission leaking, and not the power steering hose, right? they both use the same fluid. where are you seeing the leak relative to where the jeep is parked? if it's obviously directly below the transmission, there's always a chance when the fluid was changed they didn't clean the pan and your pan gasket is leaking.

I'm off island right now but I will definitely check the location of the leak when I get home to make sure it's not the power steering hose, I never thought of that! And come to think of it I recently had to add fluid to the power steering pump…
