2003 Jeep Liberty Sudden Brake Loss

So i was driving down the highway today had to stop at a stop light and my 2003 liberty sport lost brakes completely. The pedal went all the way to the floor so i put it in neutral and pulled the emergency brake. I shut the car off restarted it and the brakes were fine. Any one have similar problems?

Check your brake fluid level pronto! Last time that happened to me I had a collapsed brake line.

I lost braking when I blew out a front line near the caliper but it didn't come back. The fact that it came back is pretty freaky. I'd second the check fluid level but really odd.

Never happened to me in the KJ however this spring had it happen to me in my full size sedan, and fluid a gushing out of forward line/connector.
There is a reason why it is a good idea to carry a change of shorts in your ride !:icon_lol:
If it started back up & everything is fine it better better be check out with a fine tooth comb.
Chances are there must be a fluid leak somewhere or booster's/master's got issues!

My front left brake line cracked where the metal meets the rubber. It would only leak/pedal drop when turning the wheels left, and when straight or turning right it pinched tight and it didn't leak. Would have been a short matter of time before it cracked completely off. Look at the brake lines at all 4 wheels for any signs of a leak. If everything looks good there, then you likely have a failing master cylinder.

If everything looks fine when you look at it then it's time to get her in to a shop and have it looked at. That's something you want to take really serious and not assume it was a one off thing. Shouldn't cost much to at least have a certified mechanic inspect it over for you.
