Seriously, an air wrench? lol I'm envious. but im curious if you take that out when you driving around town... That would kick my gas milage in the fortitude.

What about a flare gun and some bear strength pepper spray. I would get the #18 Super Magnum size. This stuff negates the need for shooting any animal that is trying to attack you, which would be very difficult for those not trained in high stress do or die situations. Maybe one of the Spot Satellite Messenger things.

I would also add to the list a water proof bag, you can use it to carry your cloths in to keep dry and in addition you can use it to carry water in from a water source back to your camp if you are not close enough and i am sure there a more uses that i have not thought of yet...

in my jeep i have a MRE, 500' of 550 cord, a small tarp, a bit of camo netting, all the recovery gear i need to use with my winch, a 4 man tent, a 3 piece mummy bag (military sleep system) with stuff bag, a folding camp chair, my Ka-Bar, 3 flash lights, a survival kit in a can, a 1st aid kit and many more things i know i am forgetting...

I was in Cub Scouts, the Marines, CAP, and the PA Army National Guard... I have learned how to prepare...

oh yea, and when i go on longer trips, i always pack enough cloths for 3-5 days

i dont know if its on here and i didnt see but some kind of bag or pack to carry gear in the event you need to abandon your jeep, i have my ILBE pack in addition to the ass pack, a 72 hour BOB, and a mostly empty 96 hour bag so that if i am with other people they can haul some weight as well allowing the group to have more resources and less exhaustion, ounces=pounds, pounds=pain

Thats a solid list. I take a bit different approach with this stuff. Mobility is more my game. It's best to prepare for the given situation then try to cover all situations IMO. I am a pretty light packer.

General driving around.

2 MRE
2 bottles of water
1 Roll of shop rags
1 Complete change of clothes
1 Small knife (I usually have my pocket knife on me anyhow)
2 Fire sources
1 Atlas (Can double as kindling, just don't burn the pages you need)
1 Compass
1 Extra pair of shoes
1 Jacket
1 E-tool
4 Ratchet straps all packed in a small bag with my hitch. (not really survival related but could be used if need be.)

All fits underneath the seats no issues. Now this varies greatly from my Winter / Ice Fishing list which would look something like.

All of the above +
2 Blankets
2 Extra pair of wool socks
1 Extra set of long johns
1 Extra pair of boots albeit they are much lighter then my winter boots but still dry
1 Extra hat
1 Extra set of gloves

If I am not fishing then my Carharts, boots, gloves, hat are all packed up in a bag. Otherwise they are probably being worn.

I have a bag I can carry almost everything in for when I start walking.

If anyone is with 2 more MRE and bottles of water get thrown in. If you can manage what you eat that will last you plenty long to walk to safety or find more food / water. Extra stuff gets thrown in when need be but thats pretty much my base.

Tip - In the winter I have found that if I leave the gear in the back it gets awfully cold. So I store it in between the front and back seats so it gets some heat on it. I wouldn't want to be putting on cold clothes.

I already pPMed like you asked, but I'd add alcohol hand sanitizer and a tent.

I know you can sleep in the jeep (most times) but there was a case where some folks broke down in the desert. Usually you stay with the vehicle, but with in site of it was an area shaded by a hill or cliff or something along those lines, so they left sign go indicate they when to it, and headed out. It got them out of the heat. But sometimes the desert can go from scorching in the day to freezing at night, plus scorpions, ect, so going to the shaded area maybe good, but come night fall, you might be wanting a tent to go with the sleeping bag for extra warmth, plus protection from creepy crawlies. Plus if it's bright colored enough, it's 1 more thing to catch a potential rescuers eye.

What types of areas do you wheel in? I found the 30' to be a hindrance in the woods sometimes. Also you can get a 30K for not much more money.

I haven't ever been 4 wheeling, but I would like to at some point. I mainly would use it to pull car from off the road and would like to be able to use it when I finally decide to go offroading. I really wanted to get a 20 foot strap, but i am having a hard time finding a good 20 foot strap to buy.

You must have a "Tractor Supply" near you somewhere. Go there and look as they have good quality ones. You don't ever want a cheap strap. Also, Recovery straps and or snatch straps with loops (no metal hooks) are for pulling a stuck vehicle out of the mud. Tow straps are totally different.
