tail light brake and reverse not working 2003

SO Brake light and backup light not working .signal works and normal lights on when you turn lights on. When i swapped left side
tail light assembly all worked. Is there a way to open up the housing to see if there is corosion or do i have to buy whole new assembly

I had a light like that, I didn't bother I just got one from a scrapyard.
I guess you could cut it open and see what has corroded.

Just a thought, have you swapped the bulb holders round? They get old and brittle, it might just be one of them that's failed.

The rear exterior illumination is housed in the lamp assembly sharing a common circuit via conducting tracer elements that are susceptible to heat and corrosion. the plastic plugs and receptacles get distorted over time, and become problematic.

The best solution to rectify that problem that I know about, would be to obtain lamp sockets with pigtails to retrograde those bothersome twist connect sockets. there are aftermarket units available, just search keywords #jeep tail lights, #upgrade Liberty bulbs, #retrofit bulbs, etc. Type something like that in the Google Search Bar, and the customary Data Mineral Chasers will flock to you.

I just slapped on magnetic temporary trailer lights ant connected them to my 4-Flat connector on my LTD.
