Hey guys - so, I have the following in my KJ:

OME 926/947
Boiler 3/8" top plate spacer
(1) extra pair of rear isolators

Currently the front end is sitting at 20 5/8" from center of wheel to flare. Of course, I'd like to make it taller if I can because...well, just because I can :D

Problem is, when I tried to put pretty much anything more than 1 conduit nut on there I'd get UBJ-to-spring contact. Admittedly, this was pre-alignment, so perhaps that would have shifted things around a bit.

My question to you all is - if you have stock UCA's, how tall is your KJ and what setup are you running?

If I am maxed out here at 20.625", that's acceptable to me - I gained a little height, and the ride quality is certainly better than the junk I was on! Just want to see if there's anything else I can do. And, no, dropping $350-$400 on aftermarket UCA's is not happening anytime soon, if ever.

Thanks!

P.S. - probably should have bought the 927/948 as well. No biggie, still really pleased. Tony and Rev Mudd know what they are talking about. ;)

Well, I am at 23.75". And I am just barely getting UCA to spring contact at full extension/droop. Should have a fix for that this weekend though, and still using stock UCA's. I'll share my tricks if works.

But I think you can get 22.5" easily, probably more without any contact at all

I ran at a little over 22.50 for over 70,000 miles with stock UCA's before I swapped them out with no problems. It will make some difference after an alignment and things get settled in !

Thanks for the info guys.

Yeah, I am not really sure why I was having so much issue then. Tom, maybe I can pick your brain in the future, or take a swing down to Toledo and you can check it out? I tried 3 clevis rings, and at full droop there was no question the UBJ was contacting the spring. Lift had about 600 miles on it at that point. I got it aligned afterwards though.

Also, with my alignment, it's supposedly right on the threshold of Jeep's specs for Camber - I think one side is at -.8*. The shop said they've adjusted as much as they can out of it. Just seems wierd that you all are running a good 1.5-2" higher on stock arms with no problems! Truth be told, I just took it to Belle Tire though - may need to get a good alignment guy to do it.

Are the MD springs the same length as the HD, making them shorter under load? That is quite a bit shorter than mine I believe, I have HD springs with no clevis. I'm thinking I was just under 22 with that and my top plate spacer.

If you want bring it down some time. I have a great alignment shop I use all of the time. 03CDKJ had his aligned lots of times over the past few years and still had pulling etc. My guy had it for a short while and found the problem right away. Maybe something simple.
Let me know.
The 926s would be a bit shorter but there some way to get you more height without hitting the springs.

Glad my brother got my the 927/948 and not the 926 or 925 as my wedding present:D After sitting on that debate and researching the crap out of it I went with HD that are sitting in the back of the jeep waiting for installation.

Atrus: the alignment may have moved it enough to make a difference. Try adding some more clevis and see how she hangs. If it still hits and you can easily take it to a good tire shop or "the guy" (everyone knows a guy) and have him inspect everything. hell, it might even be bushings or you need more stickers:D

ps- Took an ambien to help me sleep and my lady finds great amusement when I do because I get loopy so if I was loopy, many apologies.

Hi LTT

What are you doing? Extending the UBJ pin or moving the UCA bush mounting points out and down, or both?

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
From doing alot of alignments of KJ's,some lifted and some not, there is a huge difference between them all. Some will go into spec easy and some will not get even close, and the ones that are the hardest to get back into specs are stock ones with the OEM junk in it for 100k.You may or may not get back into specs(closer to center) with OEM UCA's,some will some won't and there is nothing you can do about but get the JBA's and hope for the best.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll check it out sometime in the near future and see if I can get a 2-3 ring clevis lift in there now. Like I said, if not, it's not the end of the world. I don't NEED it to be taller, but would like it to be.

Next step will be to work on some type of light bar for the front bumper. I am not a welder, but have aquired a small wire feed, so I'd like to take a crack at fabbing something up. :D

Slowly trying to get rid of the soccer mom feel of the stock KJ. Hopefully I'll actually get it offroad this year! It's been 2 years since I have and I've only owned it for 3!
