Was just trying to install my new Demco Base Plate on my 2005 KJ. The holes are not lining up from side to side. End to end of the holes on the plate is 31" and on my frame the holes are about 30 7/8". I can get them in but they're on a angle and I'm not comfortable with that. Theres nothing in the instructions saying to drill the holes out, besides the back ones. I'm thinking thats what I have to do. I did notice they drilled the holes out on the roadmaster install. Any advice, please?
Tow bar base plate holes aren't matching up.

I've never had a Demco, but the Blue Ox that I put in fit just fine, had to lose the tow hooks for it though.

The roadmaster looks the easiest to install... I'm hoping to find a d-ring shackle that will fit mine. Did you use a supplemental braking system? I'm installing my ready brake tomorrow. Kinda wondering how it's going to work out, drilling the conduit behind that brake pedal.

I thought Demco was pretty reputable with hitches and such? The tow bar that came with my rv was demco excali-bar II. So, figured I'd keep it all the same or I would have had to buy new shackles too...

I guess what it comes down to is that every vehicle is slightly different!
I cannot say that for certain for Jeep Liberty's
But I know that for a fact with my other hobby car!
Maybe just elongate the mounting holes slightly and you may be able to get it to fit more reasonably!
I was going to grind them wider and instead pulled out the drill. It took me an hour to find a 1/2" bit, for the back hole, because I still haven't unpacked them from a move and looking thru 200 bits unorganized is no fun. Then I was like should I drill 9/16" and sure enough looked up at my pops old tool box to see a lonely 9/16" bit sitting right on top. Took that sign and ran with it. It feels pretty secure but think to be on the safe side i'll throw a few spot welds on it.
It's amazing how different each car can be!

I put the roadmaster brake master in mine, so far it's worked great. I towed for years with out a braking system on the toad and didn't have a problem, but planned a trip to California, and was told they get nasty about not having one on, so bought one.:favorites13:

I was reading, that if there is an accident and you don't have the brakes, insurance can deny your claim. Not sure how true that is but I don't want to find out.What kind of Motorhomes do you guys have? I have a '98 32' Georgie Boy Pursuit w/ the 460. Wish I had a diesel pusher. Gas prices are going to hurt me this season.:freak3:

I don't think that the insurance company can deny the claim, but if you rear end some one, it's automatically your fault, even when the pull in front and hit the brakes. I am running an 'o1 Winnebago Journey, and it's been a good unit. Have you checked in to the Banks system for that 460? and try driving a little slower, these things aren't made for high speeds.

I actually fell onto the Banks System last year. For as often as I use the motorhome, it just wouldn't justify spending the $3000+. They actually get really good power gains & fuel eff. with those. I have highly considered a ram air intake. I put one in my vette and the gas mileage improved.

So, how did it end up working out on drilling the new holes in the Jeep for the demco baseplate? Ours is about 1/4" off and Camping World said don't drill out bigger holes into the jeep, but we're thinking of doing it anyways.
It's been fine so far. I also did spot weld it, to be on the safe side. I think these frames vary, from one car to another, that there is no choice but to drill. I tried everything to do it according to instructions and it just was not happening. I've only towed it a few times but as of yet had no issues. Remember if you drill it, apply some good primer!
