There is the squeak/whine coming from the transmission starting at 800 rpm. Does anyone know what it might be? The squeak occurs in all gears both while not moving and while moving. It’s rather quiet unless I am underneath the vehicle. I took the belt off of the pulleys in order to make sure the sound wasn’t coming from the belt or any of the pulleys. The transmission fluid is perfectly within limits and each gear shifts smoothly. 2004 Jeep Liberty/3.7/93,000 miles.

Whine may be coming from trans fluid pump. When was the last time you changed trans fluid and filter? I got a whine from a clogged filter from the torque converter clutch material. The whine was the pump cavitating because it couldn't get enough oil through the clogged filter. Hope that isn't your problem. Any transmission codes?

I inherited the Jeep at 50K and I haven't changed the transmission filter or fluid myself. There isn't any lights on the dashboard lit and i don't own a diagnostic scan tool.

Would be best to have the transmission scanned for codes.
Now is a good time for a transmission pan drop. ( I do trans service every 35 k miles)
See if there is any particulate matter inside the pan, on magnet, and install a new filter and use ATF+4 fluid in the refill.
A Happy Jeep has clean fluids, and hopefully it wont complain, and whine anymore!

finished up the transmission filter/fluid change today. The transmission is still making the same whine. How much does it cost to have the transmission scanned for codes?
