Who Needs more HP and Torque in an "on road/off road" vehicle? If you want to go fast, OR tow heavy pay loads, then a Jeep is not the vehicle for you.(Not you Tom, people who complain about the power in a jeep)

Bert

I think and always have thought that the KJ had ample power for what it is. It does good on the highway and off road overall. Never seen the need for more power really. Now I guess to have bragging rights that "I have a big bada** V-8 in mine " at the off road park may give you more of something but still not enough to install an anemic 4.7.:Violin:

I feel the same. For what it is, and what it is capable of doing, it is perfectly fine. If anything, change the gearing to accommodate.

The only times I was never able to power through something off road was not due to a lack of power. It was due to being seriously high centered.

Gearing helps a LOT.
Thats why as soon as the garage gets cleared out the 03 is getting 4.10s .
Only running 265-70-16s on it but with 4.10s hills/ mountains should be a breeze to go up.:gr_grin:

I'm not doing it for the power gains. In all honesty, I don't have any good reasons to do it other than because it'll be a fun project and I want to be unique (kneel)

KJ Hellcat... Why not. 700+hp GC Trackhawk and Wrangler Trailhawk are apparently on the way.

seems to me the only two "successful" significant power boosts that have been done (at least during my tenure on here) are the SC'd one (with an insane motor rebuild/redesign) and the SRT-4 transplanted one, which was at least running, if not fully "legal" due to VIN programming, last I remember.

Did someone say SRT-4? When was this? And where?:gr_grin::gr_grin:

Quick update: have decided to leave my 2005 alone and keep the V6 in it. Going to put all of my recourses in the 2002. Since it has a blown up engine and needs a new one might as well have fun with it:emoticondancer:

Meaning fixing it up and back on the road OR actually trying to V8 it?
