Vacuum Line ID

All right folks, working on my daughters 04 3.7L limited. there is defrost only, hot and cold both work, all fan selectors work 1-4. i have this vacuum line tee that is missing a line ( behind the coolant res ) and for the life of me can not figure out where it comes from/goes to. there is a line near it that is somewhat behind the ac connections that go through the fire wall could this be the line i am looking for, maybe it just got pinched down behind it?

I'm no help. Sorry. I did go out and pull my coolant reservoir away from the firewall and found the T you are talking about and verify there are 3 lines hooked to it. There is a line as shown in the picture of your last post, a larger line that goes across the engine bay to another vacuum connector and a smaller line about the same size as the line shown in your picture ... but I can't tell exactly where it goes without taking a bunch of stuff apart including dropping my coolant hoses to completely remove the reservoir and that's not going to happen. I THINK that line MIGHT go through the firewall and terminate somewhere under the dash ... which I'm not taking apart either. SOoo I looked in the Jeep parts manual as well as the service manual but haven't been able to determine anything. I'm sure there's got to be something in there and I'm just not seeing it.

So, no help. Just didn't want you to think your post was being ignored. Hopefully someone who's been there, done that can chime in. Good Luck !!!

In a Haynes manual, I actually found a picture of the T you're talking about located behind the coolant reservoir. The picture is shown with the coolant reservoir removed. The line on the bottom is the one shown in the picture you posted. The larger line goes up and across the engine bay ... but that smaller line going to the left, wraps up and over the accumulator mounting (as shown) and that's where I lose the line. It either goes into a bundle behind a plastic shroud/conduit (vaguely shown in the top of the illustration ... or the line goes through the firewall. I only post this in hopes that someone who isn't exactly clear about the T you referenced, might have a clearer picture.

Appreciate the replies 03, i'm at a total loss on where this darn thing goes. Was thinking about going to a car lot and seeing if they would let me look under the hood of one

Maybe is you loosen/remove that plastic shroud/conduit behind the coolant reservoir and shown at the top of the Haynes illustration, you might find an actual line that's supposed to be connected to the T ... or at least see a hole in the firewall where the line goes through.

It is that smaller line off the left side of the T in the Haynes illustration that you are missing and talking about, right?

So, if you pull the coolant reservoir, one should go thru the firewall near the a/c fittings. It goes over the hvac box and hits a tee - you can see inside if you pull the glovebox. One side goes to a vacuum reservoir built into the right side of the dash. I had mine disconnected for hours and forgot to reconnect when I had the dash out for the heater core. I will see if I can tell where the under hood goes when I get home tonite.

If it is disconnected in the dash, you should hear a hiss if it is connected out under the hood. I can't see your pics. they look like x's on my screen

thank you so much for the replies everyone. i took 03's advice and yet to the salvage yard and took a look. took me all of 30 seconds to figure out that it was the hose stuck down behind the ac block on the fire wall. pulled and yanked a bit and it came out. hooked it up and bobs your uncle the vents work!

Yeah that vacuum line on the Gassers comes from the intake manifold and goes to the Brake Booster and inside the Cabin for the Vent control.

The CRDs have a seperate vacuum pump that supplies the Brake Booster and the Vent control. After picking my CRD from the Dealers I noticed the air was only venting through the dash defrost vents.
I turned back to the Dealers and watched them quickly fit the hose back where they had knocked it off!

If the Heater Blower only works on some of the speed settings then it definitely is the Blower Resistor located behind the Glove Box..replace with the 2005 Sebring assembly which is more robust...PN is here on the Site!

What is the black circular vent thing in the middle of the picture? Mine has a 2 inch elbowed rubber hose coming out but it looks like it should be connected to something??

You are more than likely looking at the drip hose for the AC. It comes out of firewall, droops down and dribbles like an old man

2 possibilities -

in the picture attached, that is a stud and nut that holds the heater core box to the firewall.

the 90 rubber elbow, should be lower in about the same area. It is a condensate drain for the a/c evap in the heater core box. Attaches to nothing and lets water drip when the ac is on.
