Thanks for doing that, many people over the years have wondered what that looks like in behind. So nice of you to open yours up!

NOW , wow that is bad
I would be like *^%$#@^&%#*&^%#$&(*&

Easy fix would be the JBA rock rails ya know

Oh trust me. I'm beside myself.

And after a visit to the body shop it seems like some sliders would cost a fraction of what it going to cost to repair. All I have to say is its a good thing I was 4" taller or I would have smashed both doors.

Jeep Liberty Side Guards <<<< LINK

are those what youre talking about tom?

have you ever seen these installed? could they still be installed properly even with the damage I have?

are they nice and sturdy? they seem like they could be with 12 attachment points each side

If they can still be installed this is probably what Im going to do. as it will be 1/3 the cost of repairing the body at a body shop

I would like to have said that will buff right out..but....ouch..!!
Talk about taking a bite, peeled the rocker all the way back to sub frame!
I take it you went off road, and the big ole rock was jeep hungry?
I did not have the heart to use one of Tom's photos to show the other option of RL super skinks.
On a blue kj here is what they look like:
I will let Tom can elaborate about the RL sliders..

those sliders go underneath the factory rocker. the ones i have a link to in my post above actually cover the factory rocker.

i wish i could say i went off roading. but it was a concrete lamp base on my jobsite. it was beside me and I turned into it.

Yes but the RL offer better off road protection overall.
Since yours was a lot accident, did you have collision?
If so you could make then the proper repairs & install the RL sliders, just a thought...

Well it was a jobsite so I dont know. I think i have collision but i dont know how that works

For the hit I will take on insurance I don't think its worth it. I would be better off just paying for it

ICBC ya fun.
If your jeep was listed as to and fro work, "with collision" yes you automatically have collision & will be covered for it.
If you did not list it to and fro work, there is a lieu-pole that as long as your work is within 15km you are still allowed to take the jeep to and fro work a couple of times per month.
Also if you have the 40% safe driver's discount, ICBC probably will not raise your insurance next year, as this was your first oopsie.

thats the problem. there is an oopsie from 2009 that is still haunting me because the guy took me to court and dragged the whole thing out so i think I still have a year to go before i get a free oopsie.

i wanted the RL sliders. i know they are the best for actual protection. I think I remember reading the 4x4gaurd sliders arent really that tough. but considering the damage and the cost to repair. and how the 4x4guard sliders are basically a bolt on repair it seems like I might be going that route. I wont treat them as actual sliders. Ill just look at is as instead of paying 2900 to repair one rocker back to OEM, I will be paying 1000 to upgrade both rockers

You could still consult ICBC without any penalties.
I can not see even if he dragged it out, that actual accident date was 7 years ago aprox.
I do understand that the JBA will cover most of the damage, and least expensive way to go.
That being said, consider all your options carefully.
I personally would want it repaired properly, and the best sliders possible, but that is just me.

trust me I argued with ICBC when they tried to tell me im still paying for that accident. you only ever have to pay for an incident for 3 years as long as you have no other incident. and it was almost 5 years after the incident that they told me they were going to start charging me for it. they tried to charge me 130% surcharge. i got that reduced but the clock started over again an I have to pay for it for 3 years.

could the 4xguards be installed even with the damage I have?

given that I might have to bash some of the damaged rocker in to get them to fit. but i mean would all the mounting points still work?

CzarKJ has a set of the JBA sliders installed and they look great. Maybe send him a PM.

I know this isn't a popular way to go but I have a rust spot under each passenger door that I want to take care of so I ordered a set of rockers from eBay and will be welding them on this summer. They cover the existing rockers or you can cut out the original rockers and just weld these over top. Since mine are bedlined anyway I'm just going to weld them over the top of the factory rockers after cutting out the rust then bedline them like they are now. Guess what they cost...?

$67 plus shipping.

Welding supplies will cost more than that but I'm looking forward to doing the project.

All this to say that your 'incident' doesn't have to cost you that much. For less than $100 you can weld new rockers on and be ready to tackle the next lamp base ;)

I'll be doing this soon on my driver's side. Whole rocker is starting to show some bad spots. Passenger side looks perfect. :Insane:

ok well I went to kirmac collison and they said the rocker panel part was $900. the guy called chrysler while i was there and I think they told him you have to buy the whole frame for that side not just the rocker panel.

so maybe I need to try a different route
