On the US Spec model they're just reflectors to meet FMVSS. You would have to have export tail lights, harness, switch and relay installed for actual rear fogs which is what the exports are set up as.

Yes long story short, the US didn't sign the UN ''Global Harmonization of Vehicles Act'' back in the 50's. Therefore, in many Global Spec Models, the US gets one version, usually minus a lot of certain features and specs, while the rest of the world gets a harmonized version that the only differences are usually just being RHD and LHD. Same parts same specs, just different driver side. Noted examples, Nissan Maxima, Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, Ford Fusion (new generation), Ford Contour, Ford Escort a very prime example.

You can add the rear fog lights in that spot with a drill and a file. then all you have to do is find a pigtail harness and wire it up.

Common mod when using as a Toad. Wire that bulb in to a tow harness and don't bother with the original tails.

I did that to my KJ. You have to drill holes and add a Tail/Stop/Turn light fixture.

If you go to the Blue OX web site they have the instructions available for download.

I just got the full set up, minus the wiring harness which I will eventually do when I have time to order, and complete. Right now I have them wired as running lights with LED's so they're not so bright.

I think there are more differences: ie my build sheet has a line that says " built to Canadian market requirements"
That generally includes:- daytime running lights, rear window defogger, block heater, higher cranking amp battery, higher output alternator, and metric instrumentation to name a few.

Yes the Canadian Market has its own exclusives as well, but the rear window defogger is an option. I have it on mine, and my Jeep is very VERY bare bones, no 4WD and had no cruise, which I had to install. Also battery amp doesn't mean much unless it is an actual requirement because I have a higher cranking amp in mine as well. But metric is standard for Canada, and about 90% of the rest of the world market minus the US and UK. Though Canada mostly follows the US FMVSS system except they have the 15 year import rule opposed to the US 25 year import rule.
