Emergency response
There are a variety of ways vehicles now and in the future will handle an emergency situation. For example, DaimlerChrysler's Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS) turns on interior lighting, unlocks doors and shuts off fuel when airbags deploy, while Volkswagen's also switches on the hazards and disconnects the battery terminal from the alternator. In addition, GM's OnStar and BMW Assist both alert their respective response centers of the accident and make crash details available to emergency personnel.

Available from: Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, GMC, Hummer, Jeep, Land Rover, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Volvo.

Optional: Some services may require a monthly fee, but provide additional capabilities beyond emergencies.

Ah, thanks! I have a friend at DCX that's pulling up the vehicle histories on any KJ's that I am interested in. I see this listed as a "standard" option on them. The wife wants ABS and is really firm that the vehicle we get have it. So, I wanted to see if this was ABS also for '04's and '05's. Obviously, it's not. Looks like for a Sport, I'll need to be looking at this '06. I'll call on the one I like and try to negotiate a deal later today. Hopefully he's willing to meet me in the middle of my offer and his reply.

Chrysler should do something like Onstar for accidents. I really like that feature. And Atrus, let us know how the negotiating goes.

I'll let you know. I am just dragging my feet because I am a big wuss.

Long story short, I currently drive a 1999 Grand Prix GT coupe that I've modified quite extensively (PCM/suspension/intake/exhaust/hood/etc - all tastefully done, no fast n furious crap). I absolutely love this car and will probably cry when it sells. I know it inside and out, have been driving it for 6 years now. 130k on it, it's just starting to rust in the wheelwells (not noticeable yet), it's going to need a trans (I used to drive like a jerk...well, still do sometimes) and other regular maintenance things that'll add up. Wife's got an '05 G6, so I figured it's time to get back into the SUV market (had a full size Bronco a while back). I am just a wuss because right now I have a car that's paid off that I love, and I hate committing to big decisions like this. Just such a hassle to obtain financing from the bank, etc etc. I'll be happy when I do it and have the vehicle. The whole what if game ***** - "what if I miss the prix? What if I hate the jeep?"

Anyway, you'll see a new post if I end up with an inferno red '06!

Got him to drop to $16,400 out the door. Not sure what to do. More than I want to spend, but I am not seeing much better around here. Looks like I'll have to talk to the wife tonight. Seems kinda silly to bicker over $400 if I like the truck, but I am stubborn. This is also more than I ever planned on for a used one. Also kinda a PITA that the wife is set on having ABS. Plenty of well-priced 2005's.

you'll be glad you've got ABS if you get it. My mother's '05 limited KJ has no ABS and we didn't know that until she locked up the brakes on a wet hill and slid off the road...scared the total crap out of her and she wanted to trade it in, but I talked her out of it and showed her what not to do in the rain.

That's sad because it IS possible to get a NEW Sport for just about $1k more if you try hard enough / the dealer wants it gone bad enough.

Since you will have a Jeep now, are you going to the Toledo Jeep show with the rest of us? :D :D :D

Oh, sorry Marlon - I don't have a Jeep...I wasn't willing to go up in price any more. I am a stubborn SOB. It's only $400, but I am not going to pay it. ;-)

The search continues.

LOL. Good man, good man. Now that the KK is being released fall of this year you should start seeing the dealerships make more deals. Did you check out the new Chrysler/Jeep dealership on Hall road? It used to be in Mt.Clemens. Try Orchard Lake Chrysler/Jeep too.

Good luck!

FWIW it is possible to find an 05 with ABS if that is a major concern. Mine has it. It was an option though and not standard equipment. I think ABS became standard equipment in 06. Anything prior to 06 might be a crapshoot as to wether or not it has it.

Yup, from what I have learned on here, '06+ have ABS/stability control standard. I've been running the VIN's on all of the '04s and '05s in the area that I am interested in and none have the ABS option. I assume it's because I want a sport and not a limited - most sports don't have a lot of options on them, people that want the "toys" move up to the Limited. I have a friend at Chrysler that's been running the VINs for me so I can see what options they came with and what the service history is.

Unless I come across some great deals on used '06's I am thinking a new '07 is in my future. Not sure if I should try to hold out until July or so then and see if they are going for less, or continue shopping now since they have the $3,500 cash back. I can get the friends n family discount too, so on the MSRP of $24,500, I am immediately down to $20,000 MSRP. I'll have to haggle from there...

I haven't - I've just been to Friendly so I could actually sit in one and see if I like it. I wanted a Patriot, but after 2.5 seconds in it, I bailed on that idea!

I'll try the Hall Road dealer sometime, see what I get. Do you have any great salesmen that you'd recommend me to deal with in the area? Doesn't Monicotti sell Jeep too? That'd be nice if I could deal with them as they are 1 mile from my house.

They should already start offering deals since the KJ ended production a while ago.

The Hall Road dealer is called Parkway and I hear their new dealership is downright HUGE!!!! I believe it was also known as Champion Chrysler/Plymouth/Jeep/Eagle back in the day, although I'm not 100% sure of that.

Monicotti is where I bought mine. At that time they were considered a 5-star stealership if it's worth anything to know.... At that time (3 years ago). The Monicatti's can blow me since they gave me such a hard time when I brought the Jeep in for service only after 3 months (here's the story):

Went in cause the power locks were not working (lock/unlock). I waited for nearly 2hrs before they came to me and said that the windows would not work either. I said they were when I brought it in. Come to find out the tech screwed up the BCM when troubleshooting it. They ordered a new one, wrong one after 3-4 days of waiting. Ordered again and another 3-4 days of waiting, the Jeep was gone for nearly 2 weeks and they almost tried to charge me for a rental (that was another huge fight). The day I picked it up they brought it around. I got in it, turned on the radio and no power. Windshields wipers wouldn't work either. They kept it for another 3 days because they said the module was not right or some crap. Again, they gave me hassle for the rental. I spoke directly to one of the Monicatti's who just blew me off like a young kid or something. I wrote to Chrysler about the poor customer service and inconsiderate management. Needless to say I got the Jeep back, the tech was cool and worked with me through the whole ordeal but agreed that the management teams blew there. I also found out that my sales guy left for Orchard Lake C/J dealership 1 week after I bought it off him. Same issue, poor management (I went to him at Orchard to get some side steps and stuff).

Okay I'm done ranting on in your thread. I'm over that way a lot (Fiancee lives with parents at 18 in the suburb's).

If your looking at buying a new 07' why not a new 06. The deals would be far better than an 07 if you wait another month or so.

FALSE.... Production is still underway until the end of June prior to model year change over. We are still building door trim panels for current model years. Our cut off date is the week of June 25th since we build batch and have a but load for Chrysler. Then we get into building out Service parts....Before we shut it down though I'm going to get new doors for my KJ and have them add the Chrome switchplate, bezel, and handle.

Well, while I'm not going to say much about that. suppliers do continue to produce parts even after production has ended.... that way they can be bought for future use. :) You know, in case stuff breaks, perhaps. :p

Time to talk to this "source". Maybe I misunderstood what was said.

I thought your company just made doorpanels for the WK/XK. Can I get some chrome accessories? :p
