I’ve heard a lot of issues about the window regulators failing for the 06’s. Luckily nothing has happened to me yet and I’ve owned it for about 5k miles. But I have noticed that my drivers window slams into the top. Does this mean anything?

Hell if I know. But anytime I've had a regulator fail, the window just stops working. And getting those out and the new one in is a giant pain in the ****. You have to play twister with it.

Meh. The "repair kit" for my wife's Grand Am was the motor and regulator. "Oh, this shouldn't be too bad... WTF??!!!"

But on the KJ the kit to replace the plastic piece that breaks makes the regulator bullet proof and your not going to do it again. I have replaced regulators in other vehicles and i know the pain involved with it, if you have to pull the regulator out of a KJ to replace it you might as well pull it out and repair it and then be done with it period... Plus the kit costs less than a regulator anyway, and the new regulator design they replaced it with also requires replacing the glass as well, so the price climbs...

I have an '06 and have had one break on me thus far. It was a few weeks after I bought it, had 12,800 miles when it went kaput. I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden the window went all the way down and made a grinding noise when I pushed the button to try to get it to go back up. I have a warranty and it cost $150 (the deductible) to replace. They said it would be $450 without the warranty.

Why you all think it's so hard to replace a regulator in KJ? It takes less then 30mins to with taking your time.

My guess would be because we're not as awesome as you?

Like I said, I haven't had to mess with it on my Jeep yet, just on my wife's car. But still, and yeah it also took around 30 minutes, it was a pain in the ass. Human arms aren't meant to bend and twist that way, so I rented a monkey to come by and do it. He did alright.

fwiw, I've now done a DS front and DS rear and I'd say I could easily do either w/in an hour. I'd say the biggest pita is messing w/ the door panel clips w/out breaking them.
