just curious if i could install a switch or re-wire the electric fan to stay on all the time? what would be the simplest way to do it?

and what would be the cons of running it all the time other than wearing it out.
this is on an 06.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Your check engine light will most likely turn on also since the PCM is reading the fan is on when it is commanding it to be off.Otherwise no harm will come of it besides the fan may not last as long as it could.

I'm assuming this is to avoid overheating?
I may be wrong here but could you just add a one in front of the radiator to draw cool air into it? And wire it to a rocker switch in the KJ to turn it on/off whenever needed.

on our 06s there is the airconditioner radiator there.

if youre having overheat issues you might want to wash out the outside of your radiator.. i did this per someones suggestion with great success.

its two bolts to take off radiator fan and shrowd.. and one easily accesible cable.

Get a clutched fan and be done with it. It always pulls some air through the radiator.

Napa has the clutch for ~$60 but not the fan blades.

Keeping the fan on longer would actually cool the ****** all the time.. Instead of when its kicking on and off or when youre going down the hw.

I can think of two reasons that people have put electric rad fans in their Jeeps (non Liberty Jeeps).

#1. to gain horsepower & increase gas mileage (hardly noticeable)

#2. to be able to turn off the rad fan when doing deep water crossings (okay, this might be useful to keep from destroying the fan blades)

One last thing, when the 40A fuse to my rad fan failed the PCM didn't pop any codes. It did however pop codes when I removed the rad fan relays.

Not sure what's available on the KJ, but I faced the same problem in my '99 W-Body.

I bought a fan switch that had it's own relays and such that didn't trigger the PCM. Perhaps something exists (or could be made easily enough) for the KJ?

Just clean out your rad on a regular basis trust me It is worse than you think in there. Remove the electric fan and wash water through both ways.
