    Tire pressures (with MTRs, specifically)

For off-roading try 15-20 PSI. On-road about 33-36 PSI, but the old chalk test is best to confirm your optimum pressure. 80 PSI is the max pressure for the max load. You will never see that much weight on a Jeep. I have a set of Treadwrights coming in this week, and I am curious to see how...

    which replacement diff?

I have the Powertrax no-slip in a 4x2 Dodge Ram and it works well, but you do have to be easy on the gas around the corners. Traction has vastly improved. I would do it again in a second. However, the Detroit varieties may be superior and they offer more options (e.g., no-slip...

Need help with rear brake replacement

I just had my rear brakes (pads and rotors) replaced at 44,000 miles. 21K does sound early, but it all depends on driving style and environment. I have been told that OEM rotors come from the factory at minimum spec thickness, so you can't turn them when replacing pads. Replacing pads and...

    Burning Smell

Just got back from the dealer. They replaced the left rear caliper. $201.48 bill. Parts were $84.56, labor was $127.50. They took 10% off the parts and 20% off the labor. My normal Jeep dealer went out of business, so this was the first time I tried this "new" dealer.

    Burning Smell

The pads were at less than 10%, and the rotors would be less than spec if turned, according to the dealer. It must be that the calipers are sticking.

    Burning Smell

I just had my rear brakes (pads and rotors) replaced at the dealer (44,000 miles on my Liberty CRD). When I got home, I noticed a distinct burning smell coming from the rear wheels. Is this the new brakes "breaking" in, or is there a problem.

    Factory limited slip swap

I have had the Powertrax in a 4x2 Dodge Ram for about 2 years now. Besides a little "chirping" around corners on occasion, it works great.
