    BCM Compatibility

It is a very long story (and will be of no help to you anyway...) but I have a 2007 as well. After a break-in and attempted theft nearly nine years ago all that stuff had to be replaced. Ever since then my fog light switch has not worked properly and I get a chronic phantom TPMS alert every...

What did you do to your jeep today?

My Jeep has an object shaped kind of like a WWII bayonet between the two front seats. Some guy tried to tell me that was the parking brake but I've pulled it back hundreds of times and nothing ever happened so I think he was pulling my leg.

    Starting A Thread About...Starters

No, I somehow got through all my gear oil adventures without shedding a drop. I was feeling kind of smug about that, so maybe this is one of those "Pride goeth before a fall" things. If so, lesson learned... :( I had not thought about it, but I bet you are right on the parts sourcing thing.

    Starting A Thread About...Starters

Went out yesterday and drove with no problems. When I went to go home the Jeep wouldn't start. Battery is fine, just no crank at all. Had it towed to a mechanic. They are closed until Monday. Got antsy about some tools and stuff in the back so I had my wife drive me down there to clean it...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Took the day off and decided to have some fun. Went out to the range and when I came outside the Jeep would not even crank. Pretty sure my six year old starter has bitten the big one. Had it towed to the garage where it will sit until Monday when they come back to work and let me know the...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Got the front diff done and for good measure did the transfer case fluid. The engine oil was done about two weeks ago. Going to do a power steering flush and I think I will be OK. I am taking it to the dealer in a couple weeks for the radiator flush. I think I am running out of fluids to...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Went out with fresh eyes today. Tried cleaning the housing threads and the bolts but this did not get me very far. I have a tap & die set coming tomorrow. In the meanwhile, I added a few washers to the two stubborn holdout bolts and was able to snug them up nicely. Frankly, that really is...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Given a choice, would it be better to marginally underfill it or marginally overfill it? I probably have about four ounces less than that in there now.

What did you do to your jeep today?

While I'm at it, what is the fluid capacity of this thing? I put just shy of 2 quarts in by the time I hit the dipstick. Does that sound reasonable?

What did you do to your jeep today?

The cover itself is solid as a rock and all the parts (drain plug, fill plug, and bolts) seem to be extremely well machined. I suspect they put some kind of thread-lock finish on the bolts. (Which is perhaps why running a nut up and down them improved matters - I wore some of that stuff off.)...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Never in my life did I think that changing the rear diff oil would turn into an all-afternoon experience. I had no trouble getting the old oil out. It actually looked beautiful, a fact that would come to haunt me as the day wore on. Got everything cleaned up and went to install my new ARB...

What did you do to your jeep today?

This is on my list (and has been for years). Many attempts and no luck so far. After 30+ years driving a stick I feel weird with no parking brake.

    Gear Oil Question

What kind of a fanatic freezes their stinkin' gear oil?!!!!! o_O o_O o_O Actually - that is a brilliant idea, and I bet you feel better in the winter knowing the stuff is not sitting in there like pine sap. As for the gas mileage, I quit thinking about that years ago. Anything I do now is...

    Gear Oil Question

My manual says the rear diff should get 75W-90 (Synthetic) for normal use and 75W-140 when towing. I don't tow all that often but it is not that rare of an occurrence either. Getting ready to change it and not sure what to buy.

KK gas tank skid plate rot: A solution

My Jeep says it has 20.5 gallon fuel capacity. I know I was coming home late at night from a concert a few years back and put 20.2 gallons in it. The concert was in Akron and I assumed there would be gas stations all along the highway coming back home. By the time I found one I had about...
