My 2002 Export 2.5 L CRD here in SA has a tag on the right rear axle stating 4.10!
At one stage long ago my Jeep felt a bit funny in tight turns so I drained the rear diff...filled with a good gear oil and the Mopar Additive.
Did a few tight "figure 8s" on loose grass and had no more problems...
The bearings in the Idler Assemblies and on the Belt Tensioner are sealed Ball Bearings....40mm exterior, 17mm interior and 12mm thick...I think...can't find my Vernier Caliper at the moment! So it is easy to buy a good make of Bearing.
However all three of these Bearing assemblies are encased...
At this stage I have replaced the Serpentine Belt, Belt Tensioner and both Idler Pulleys.
The Alternator seems to spin smoothly so I will monitor it for a while.
The Idler Pulley near to the Alternator was completely seized so I believe that is what was making the Alternator jump about a bit! ;)
Finished with the replacement of the Serpentine Belt and Tensioner Assembly!
Six months ago I got the Jeep Agents to replace the Timing belt as I felt that it was due for replacement and could not afford to have it snap on me!
The Agents could not find a Timing Belt so I looked at the number...
Ksat is right in mentioning the grounding of the battery to chassis.
Also if this is a V6 then check that the two leads that come off the Firewall to the rear of the two cylinder heads are clean and tight.
You get weird things like that due to bad earthing.
The Starter motor itself is firmly bolted in place so you would think that it is well grounded....not always so!
Take a thick cable like those used for Jump Starting.
Clamp one end to the Negative Battery terminal and the other end clamp onto...
Yes the P1130 code will be the first one to chase!
There is no date on these codes...could be months old and you cannot delete them.
The older codes ie. those higher up the list seem to eventually fade away.
I sometimes deliberately cause some error ie. disconnect some connector.
If you get a...
Thanks for the advice!
I can order parts from Overseas but usually a long wait....and the exchange rate against the $ is ridiculous!
I am battling to remove the Belt Tensioner to have a close look at it.....will have to remove a few more parts to get to it and then I may get back to you as to...
Welcome...I live in White River and have the 2002 2.5L CRD...currently replacing Serpentine Belt and Pulleys etc.
The fuel filter sits on the LHS where you bleed the system...may be clogged or when it was last replaced the original rubber gasket sometimes stays behind...when you fit a new...
Thanks for the reply but as I remember it from the Ausjeepoffroad Site it is a lot more complicated than that...still trying to find the relevant posts on Ausjeep!
Also seeing as the Idle Pulleys are held on with Left Hand Thread Bolts I would imagine that using an Impact Wrench I would have to...
Well I jinxed myself about 5 months ago when I stated that my 2002 CRD Alternator Litens pulley had never failed!;)
Three days ago as I turned into the entrance to my Complex the steering got extremely hard to turn!
I managed to then turn into my garage and lifted the hood....sure enough the...
If you lock your Jeep with the remote from outside and then unlock the door manualy with the key does the Alarm go off?
Sitting inside the Jeep if you lock the doors with the remote do you see a small Red LED flashing rapidly on the dash? Does this light go out if you now unlock the doors with...
Taped up my left Rear window glass as I suddenly experienced the dreaded "Window Regulator" issue that causes the window to drop down!
After 20 years of not having this problem, I always wondered how come I was spared!
I think that it was probably shaken by hitting a large...
Disconnect the battery so that airbags cannot go off.
You can remove the covers around the steering wheel and with a two-legged puller pull the steering wheel off its spline. You can then remove the covers surrounding the ignition switch and remove the key tumblers and the steering-lock parts...
A common problem with the bulbs is that they get hot and the bulb contacts on the socket then melt into the plastic of the bulb socket/holder....so now the bulb contact no longer touches on the socket contact.
If this is the case you can try heat up the socket and pull the contact out slightly...
Just to clear up a few things:
The CRDs did not come out from the factory with a fuel pump but the harness was fitted in place just short of the fuel tank.
Many CRD owners have fitted Fuel Pumps to their Jeeps to resolve issues...there are various makes of pumps available....post a request...
This is actually a common problem for some years now. Using a screwdriver is a good idea....been there done that!
The Dealers normally do not sell the Actuator Pin Assembly...they told me I have to buy the whole steering column assembly!
My fault turned out to be a wiring issue but the Actuator...
I do not know much about the 2.4 KJ Gasser and these were never sold in South Africa!
However on all the other KJ models the Crank Sensor has a reputation for going bad, mainly when heating up!
I would suggest you replace the Crank sensor with a good make and see how things go!
Does your Jeep have a fuel pump installed? They do not come from the factory with a fuel pump installed but most of the wiring harness is in place. You should be able to hear it running.
My 2002 Export CRD does not have a fuel pump and I have never had problems in that area.
The fuel-line...
