They actually did a very good job to my surprise....replaced the Timing belt and the Serpentine belt that I suppled with the tensioner pulleys.
Jeep feels good nice and smooth with good response!:)
Had the Timing Belt, Serpentine Belt and idler pulleys replaced on Friday.
Jeep has just turned 20 Years old and just short of 200,000 kms.
Going to give it a good vacume and clean inside and sort out the tools I carry with me.
Now that the Belts have been replaced I feel more confident about...
OK I have seen snow twice in South Africa, 1964 and 1980 I think!
It is probably going to snow this Friday because the Jeep Dealers phoned to say they can do the Timing Belt change on Friday morning!
I am sure that Friday the 13th is not a bad omen because I am not supersticious.....touch...
Thanks for this information....I supplied the Local Jeep Dealers with another part number I had found....I will give them a few days to see what they come up with!
This is Africa....we have what is called "Africa Time" which means there is no hurry for anything!;)
Does it turn over and start?
Check what DadoSix advised and check your grounds at the battery area and the two straps going from rear of cylinder heads to the engine Firewall.
Thanks for that....I will see how things go. First thing tomorrow I will be at the Jeep dealers with all the Parts Documentation that I have to check that they are actually searching for the correct part in the first place!
This is the place where the Workshop Manager told me I could use ATF+4...
I have just taken my 2002 Export 2.5L CRD into the local Jeep Dealers to have my Cambelt Replaced....200,000 kms.
The Mileage is not too bad but it has been 7 years since last replacement...I was always told that 6 years is the maximum time between replacements.
Bad news is the Local...
I had an intermitant Air Bag warning showing up....had to replace the Clockspring.....make sure you disconnect the battery first and strap the negative and positive battery cables together to get rid of any capacitance that could set off the airbag while you are working in that area.
My 2002...
My May 2002 Export Diesel turns 20 on May 15!
Has about 190,000 kms on the clock and still goes we BUT I must get the Cam Belt replaced as it was replace about 6 months ago!
I hate the Dealers here though...total useless!
Try adding a good ground onto the metal casing of the Radio...finding bad grounds on electrical equipment during my working career enabled me to retire early at 55! ;)
Will not do any harm!
One way to eliminate the "sticks on the steering column" ie. "multifunctiion Switch"..is to remove the plastic cover over the top of the steering column which holds the Multifunction Switch in place. There you will see the single connector going to the switch...pull this off and see if the...
If you have downloaded the 2005 Jeep KJ Service Manuals
Section 8W are the Wiring Diagrams.
Page 8W-21-2 shows the Starting System for the 2005 CRD.
The wire going to pin 85 of the Starter Relay is a DG/OR color (Dark Green with Orange Stripe). This goes through Connector # C111.
At the end...
I have not worked in that area so cannot comment on which is the best.
The last two Alpha characters are merely a revision level so they are compatible but probably someone in Design decided that going to the AB design as apposed to the AA design was an improvement ...so they started making it...
Physically check that wire on terminal 85 for continuity end to end and for no-reading between it and ground when it is completely unplugged and hence "floating" in mid air. Make sure you are not touching the Digital Multi-meter's leads with your bare hands while doing so. ;)
That is a very good link....I use it all the time!
Does not cover the 2007 models but the 2006 Manuals should be close enough although the wiring colors may be different.
Check all grounding points while you are working around there. ;)
With a frontal collision there is a good chance that the wiring going from the Starter relay to the Starter motor solenoid or the Thick Red wire...unfused...going to the motor itself, may have been damaged.
Put a voltmeter onto the solenoid to see if voltage does show up there and the thick red...
I will let the Experts chip in here!
One small thing I did find on my 2002 Export CRD though:
The plastic filler container has a small sensor underneath that signals "Low Coolant" if the level gets too low. The two wires coming out of this Sensor exit the container underneath via a rubber...
