2003 Liberty 3.7L sport, Reman engine from Tri-Star, p0304 code

@Johnny O ...What year is your Liberty? If it's a 2003, do you have a capacitor spliced into the 14awg common for the coils?

2003 Liberty 3.7L sport, Reman engine from Tri-Star, p0304 code

Went out to Autozone and had the battery checked. Their scanner only came back with "OK"s... no metered readings, which is about as useless as it gets for troubleshooting.

    Engine swap

I'm honestly happy that you had a good experience. I didn't want a Tristar, actually picked out a block that had been re-milled to fix the porting issues from the original design.... and then the shop went ahead and bought the Tristar and stuck me with both the tab and the fallout. Saw the...

2003 Liberty 3.7L sport, Reman engine from Tri-Star, p0304 code

Its a 2023 Autozone $99 "Economy" piece of junk that the original gargage put in, after my brand new top-of-the-line $250 Goodyear mysteriously disappeared while in their possession... 625 cranking amps. Why do you ask?

    Engine swap

I just went through an engine swap for a 2003 3.7L . Got a reman engine from Tristar (Autozone) which failed in less than a month. Took 2 months to get a replacement, which appears to be failing as well (consistent cyl misfire, probably a bad head). Regarding your simple question, there is...

2002 jeep liberty 3.7 limited burning oil

If you are blowing oil, start looking for a replacement vehicle. I wasted a LOT of money trying to save my 2003 3.7L after blowing a ring. Absolutely not worth it.

Was it determined to be a problem with a faulty valve?

2003 KJ 3.7L 4WD A/T: Notes on DIY emission control overhaul

I am methodically updating all of my fuel/ignition/emission-related circuits, connectors, controls and sensors. The one consistent factor that I have encountered is that AMZN has nothing to offer but bait-and-switch garbage parts. My go-to for Crown Automotive parts is now Quadratec...

Multiple CEL codes after re-installing engine.

Confirm that your thermostat is installed so that the valve flows in the correct direction. I had crazy overheating and once the thrmostat was replaced with a high quality thermostat the problem disappeared. "New" is not always = "good" in these days of substandard Chinese aftermarket garbage.

    Rich air fuel mix problem

A very interesting thought, because I have what looks like a "rogue vacuum line" that has an end with some sort of weird white-plastic-breather plug stuck in it. The garage said it was "a transmission breather line" but I've been to the salvage yard a few times looking at 2003 3.7L intact drive...

    Codes after replacing MAP sensor.

Go back and double check ALL connectors that you touched. From experience, I connected my spark plug harness power lead (a single 18awg wire) that feeds all 6 plugs, to the wrong cavity on a 10-way connector (confusing wire colors) and got dead spark plug readings on my scanner. Double checked...

    Rich air fuel mix problem

Installed the "correct" MAP #68002763AA, and it seems to have partially improved the fuel trim. I had unstable o2 sensor readings prior to MAP replacement were sticking between .07 and .65 V, with 1 sensor occasionally hitting .8... and my understanding is that its supposed to fluxuate between...

    Misfire

How did the new MAP work out?

    Rich air fuel mix problem

Heads up. I have a problem with "rich" fuel trims, both short and long. Background: I had elected to replace all of the emission-related sensors (MAP, ECT, IAT, etc) and fuel-air mix controllers (Intake Air Control Valve, Throttle Position sensor, Evap purge) that I could do myself. In the...

2003 Liberty 3.7L sport, Reman engine from Tri-Star, p0304 code

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. The software that drives the discussions takes some getting used to... The answer is: neither the bypass wiring or the MAP sensor replacement solved the misfire problem. However, either of those two things could cause a misfire. Wiring is cylinder specific...

2003 Liberty 3.7L sport, Reman engine from Tri-Star, p0304 code

How to rebuild and install a wiring harness for either fuel injectors of ignition coils

    10. Illustrations where helpful I am attaching a ".pdf" file that outlines everything with some illustrative images. >>>NOTE<<< The content explicitly applies to the 3.7L KJ PowerTech V6 engines in a 2003 Liberty. There may be direct applicability for 2002 and 2004, and possibly 2005 and...
