Why are we still here? The legacy of the Jeep Liberty

I bought mine back in 07 because I didn't want a Grand Cherokee! Would've done a Commander but fell in love with the KJ. Got 212k on it now, most of it has been replaced, but I love it! It's been a great companion.

Ground Clearance: How Much is Enough?

It's been a great setup! I love it.

    Took the Rene off roading...

I was aired down to like 15 I think! I'm in La Crosse, but this park was over in Attica, Indiana.

    Took the Rene off roading...

Finally got it off road! Only mods were a Valkyrie rear diff skid plate - and that sure took a beating! I went with a lifted Nissan Frontier and a lifted 4 door JK. I went everywhere they went - these are great off road! I have been to this park several times with my lifted Liberty, and this...

Ground Clearance: How Much is Enough?

My KJ has about 11" under the front skid and it's gone everywhere I've wanted it too. The limit has been the open diffs.

    Insanity

It's not Jeep's fault that aftermarket parts have bad quality control, but thanks for proving our point of always stick to Mopar for sensors.

    Transmission flush or pan drop?

Permatex Ultra Gray RTV work? Do I need to do it at a certain temp? Do I need to measure what comes out? Thanks for the replies!

    Transmission flush or pan drop?

I have about 60k on my transmission since the rebuild. I'm getting conflicting information - would it better to do a pan drop or take it do the dealer to do a flush. Thanks!

    Liberty Wheel Hub Replacement

I used SKF on mine. Like $100 each if that on rockauto. The other ones can fail in months.

    Blown Bilstein front shock

Emailed Marlin a week ago, no response yet. Is he out of the office for a while or something?

Install Price for JBA Upper Control Arms

This was the first major thing I did on my KJ myself.... any decent 1/2" socket set will have what you need. Not a bad job to do. Tom's an expert, he can do them in his sleep, but for the mortal I'd say you can do them over a Saturday if it's your first time. Easy job over all.

Coolant system question! (Blown upper radiator hose)

Do it when the engine is up to temp... should expand the aluminum more than the steel hex. Take some teflon tape or something and wrap your bit with it to help take up the space from it rounding out. Give the bit a few hits with the sledge to help. Otherwise drilling it out might be the only...

Front lower control arm bushings consensus

Any decent shop should be able to do them. Does Mopar still sell the bushings?

    Blown Bilstein front shock

I'm down!!!! Update: allegedly these have a lifetime warranty so I emailed Marlin to see what do to.

    Blown Bilstein front shock

And are you running boots or not? I always thought boots just kept crap in. Rockauto says they have some Rancho RSXs in stock, those might be worth a shot. Just trying to decide if I want to pony up for OMEs or not because that'll deplete the Rene lift fund....

Looking for good brake pads and rotors

I love Centric premium rotors, EBC pads are good. Running Wagner thermoquiet pads and they're not quiet.

    Blown Bilstein front shock

Another blown Bilstein...probably my 4th one but first front one. Has about 80-90k on it. What else is good for the front shocks? OME? Ironman?

Can't get rear UCA bracket to align with the axle

Got it, I put a block of wood under the pinion side of the diff and jacked it up there, lined up and bolts in 30 seconds later. Easy!

Can't get rear UCA bracket to align with the axle

Got the new UCA bolted in place with the 2 body mounts but I can't get the rear axle and the ball joint bracket to align. The axle needs to come back like 1/2" to an inch. How do I get them together again? Thanks!
