Assuming it's the same (design, not part) as the WJ, it's a doddle. So, for your sake, I hope my assumption is right. New headlights?
As it's a 2008 it already has the better headlights but, presumably, the same pathetic wiring. I would go the "old skule" route: a decent harness upgrade, with relays, & +200% bulbs. In fact it's something I was meaning to do quite early on, but more important repairs got in the way.- Deb'nKJ

I'd got a new arm (partly) because I assumed the ball joint need replacing as well, so was really surprised that there was no movement in it at all. Probably worth re-bushing, not that I have any intention of doing the job again. Hope you're right about the MoT, I didn't think there was...- Deb'nKJ

Yesterday, I thought I'd do the prep. for sorting out the back brake that's binding (it was an "advisory" on the MoT/inspection) but it was perfectly free. Anyway, as I'd got the flexi/soft line & caliper overhaul kit, but undoing those connections didn't look like a job to try todo against the...- Deb'nKJ

I thought I might do that, which I why I kept my old one (as the ball joint's good) but wondered if it was worth all the hassle, given a "pattern" boomerang's not much more'n a pair of bushes - but if it really is that easy . . . Have to say the novelty of fuel consumption for a "new" vehicle swiftly palls - like after the 1st 2 or 3 tankfulls. My 1st XJ did a steady 20 mpg, all day, every day, come what may. The KJ doesn't come near that, in fact the KJ seems to have been particularly ill-served by advances in...- Deb'nKJ

I've just replaced the whole thing on mine, because it wasn't much more than a pair of bushes. Probably a mistake buying that cheap but I won't be doing again, whatever happens - a KJ's just not worth all that grief.- Deb'nKJ

Of my 3 XJ's only the '98, with a 2" lift & 31" MT's is that bad. Of course we don't buy/run Jeeps for economy, but it's so depressing that Jeep haven't managed to improve on an '84 (or earlier) 4.0 straight 6 in something with the aerodynamics of a house brick.- Deb'nKJ

What are people using for brighter headlights?
Yes but it's not more watts (those days of 80, 90, 100 even 130w bulbs have long gone - although there are still some around) they're still only draw 55/60w, just used more efficiently/effectively. According to JeepJeepster (@ #11) there are already relays but that wiring is pathetic, so...- Deb'nKJ

Don't understand why shipping parts to Africa should be difficult, most UK & European parts places ship worldwide, as does RockAuto - but could be expensive. I think India might be worth a look, right side of the equator, cheap, often with free shipping. Try vicky.com- Deb'nKJ

Never mind 20 years old, JK wiring had inbuilt voltage drop from new. XJ's had a reputation for under-spec'd wiring, but instead of learning from that, Jeep went for the weight - & money - saving option of using wiring I'd only previously seen in stereo installs & behind instrument panels.- Deb'nKJ

I found LED bulbs to be very, very bright, but completely lacking in providing illumination (the only exception being some reversing light specific ones. As for using an LED light bar in fog, I'd imagine that could only reduce poor visibility to nil - but I'd be interested in others' experience...- Deb'nKJ

Just because it's Italian doesn't, necessarily, mean it belongs to Fiat, which, afaik, use their own diesels in their self-badged vehicles.
