What did you do to your jeep today?

So I discovered, when I bothered to look, but not that cheap - & from an unlikely source, so thanks for the lead. I think that's probably best practice, but not something I've ever done. Prepared to accept this was me not being as careful as I usually am: power tool induced carelessness I suspect.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Last weekend when the bolt arrive I meant to undo the temporary fix for the wandering caliper on the left front but there wasn't time - so that was this morning's job. First thing I noticed was the top 12mm bolt attaching the caliper to the bracket was only finger tight, then the temporary bolt...

Need to know a nut size

Surprised it's that big (same as caliper bracket to knuckle bolts - another piece of pointless over-engineering) ) would 've guessed at M10. & I stand corrected about it bein a castle nut, but I keep thinking of a KJ as being "modern"

What did you do to your jeep today?

Actually, I think mine might have something similar. If so, one day I'll have to learn how to clean it. Not sure why notre ami wants to use a paper filter in a potentially wet environment, mais si cela le rend heureux

Need to know a nut size

Almost by definition, nylocks can't just fall off. However, you are where you are &, in that position, I'd simply rummage around all the odd ones scattered around 'til I found one that fitted. If you've really got to go out and buy, measure the other one (there are some bastard size nuts out...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Of course I don't know what Mrs KJO drives but suspect it's something newer, so would blame modern discs, rather than the pads. Either way, unless by "modern pads" you mean asbestos free, the answer's simple - avoid them!

What did you do to your jeep today?

I never understood the idea of dust-free pads - but now I do, so thanks for that. I have never bought into rotors as a service item & still reckon on them lasting the lifetime of the vehicle (damage, for whatever reason, aside) but, on the vary rare occasion it has been necessary I've been no...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Oh yeah, I do now recall dust as a cause of squealing - just not in the last 50 years.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Of course "uneven wear" covers a multitude of sins, side to side, inner to outer, even end to end or inner radius to outer radius (of one or both pads), each indicating a different problem.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Dunno about a close look, a quick glance should be all it takes to see the problem. Might as well get the pads now, save having to remove at least one wheel twice.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Of course it may not be you at all, I once lost a wheel because somebody had loosened the nuts while it was parked up. Fanciful? Not really, several owners of cars parked in the same street had discovered loose nuts.

    2005 Liberty Jeep Limited

& your not going to find a Fiat technician who knows that 20 year old Jeeps even exist. I wonder if "US mode" is simply "not metric"

What did you do to your jeep today?

Finally got it started, after being parked up for a couple of months. Jumped it from my trusty Suzuki support vehicle ('cos the only other running Jeep also has a flat batter) having wasted best part of the price of a new battery on another useless starter pack (obviously in that market, output...

    2005 Liberty Jeep Limited

I'm surprised there is a "US mode" as most vehicles simply switch between metric & imperial/standard/whatever - & I note what KJowner says, which suggests he can't swap between the 2.

What did you do to your jeep today?

"Lifetime Warranty" means for the lifetime of the component, i.e. when it fails, the warranty ends. Sorry, but I thought everyone knew that - same as "universal" means "fits nothing" Glad to share the (received) wisdom gained soon after I left school

11 miles per gallon.....it's not good, but is it bad?

Actually, the 4.7's better - but fact is I doubt there's another vehicle that didn't get improved mileage over the same period.

11 miles per gallon.....it's not good, but is it bad?

But by the time the KJ came out the technology hadn't improved since '84 - at least in fuel consumption terms.
