    Intermediate Shaft

Thank you Tomm. When I googled it I was getting conflicting answers. I saw images of a front diff shaft, and a steering rack part. does anyone know where I can find an intermediate shaft for the KJ? Or does anyone have a part # for one they trust?

    Intermediate Shaft

This may be a stupid question, but I figured id ask. A I'm combing through the KJ's 4X4 system, I've heard that if you replace your front CV's, that you have to replace your Intermediate shaft at the same time as well. Exactly what is your intermediate shaft? (This is my first 4X4 vehicle...

    Strange issue

Just another bump to this thread. Got the shaft back yesterday and it looks brand new. New weld yoke, rotated shaft, 2 new greaseable U-joints, etc. Will get the liberty back together tonight and report back. Sadly no 4WD system due to a bused shifter bushing.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Got loads of snow here as well, KJ's still ripped apart in the garage. So had to take the 2WD F-150 to work. Needless to say that sucked.

ElecTape's Deep Beryl Green Build Thread

If you're AC's out 99% of the time its the compressor/compressor clutch, meaning new compressor and condenser. then recharge the system and all good. That's what I had to do to mine.

ElecTape's Deep Beryl Green Build Thread

Hey sounds perfect. I picked mine up in the same condition as yours from a neighbor for $400. Any maintenance since 39,000 was neglected. Best purchase I've ever made

Water leak- passenger side- quick fix

Did this fix on my liberty today while its apart for other reasons. Last weeks rain SOAKED my new interior carpet on the passenger side, got a fan on blast drying it atm. Sealed the intake filter with a thick bead of RTV, and sprayed some silicone sealant around some questionable areas that...

    Strange issue

Growling from where? One side or the other or is the pinion gears making noise?

    transfer case noise

If your transfer case CV end is bad on your shaft, rebuild it with this. https://www.driveshaftparts.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=978&search=jeep liberty Its the one I used, and I've seen many others on this site use. Install is super simple with a vise, snap ring pliers and...

    Strange issue

Just a endweek update on this - Jeep is still in the garage on stands. Axle bearings are being replaced, along with E-brake hardware (Because one side was missing, I mean hardware, pads and all.) I get the driveshaft back Monday afternoon.

    transfer case noise

Id agree with Tomm and check your front driveshaft. Like he said the Transfer case side of the shaft goes bad real fast and the bearings create this hellish noise. But you can rebuild it yourself for around $30. Super easy and about a 20 minute install with snap ring pliers and a flathead.

    Evaporative Emission System Leak-Help

"Sooo...my next thought is to replace the Evaporative System Leak Detection Pump (aka Evaporative System Integrity Module Detector) - the white plastic thing circled in red in the picture below. Is that a pain to replace? It looks like there is just an electrical connector and either a twist off...

    Strange issue

Got an update on this issue (Not sure if it solves it yet) Took rear driveshaft to be balanced, and got a call saying one of the weld yokes was bored out, or too large to hold the U-Joint cap in place causing it to wiggle. Shop is going to replace the weld-end, 2 new u-joints, and balance...

    Transfer case fluid???

I have read places where gear oil is used in the 231 and 242 to quiet them down, kind of muffles the gear and chain noise and such, but other than that I'm not sure why it would be swapped out.

    Front end vibration help

I'm having a similar issue, and I keep replacing/fixing things till it stops. Honestly thinking my transmission is going bad and developing a shimmy.

    rear diff question

Thank you for the list of tools and different rebuild kits! I'm not hearing any bearing noise lately, I just have that weird intermittent vibration, that I'm believing more and more is the transmission going bad or starting to shimmy. But when the time comes to freshen up the rear diff that...

    rear diff question

I believe I've heard of it, but do you have a link to it? just for reference. And I've seen videos of people synching those things down to 210FT/LBS. Does not look like fun at all.

    rear diff question

As I figured, I dont have the tools or time window to do all of that. If you'd be so kind, could you get me a complete list of tools that would help? Local shop quoted around $700 for a complete bearing/seal rebuild.

    rear diff question

Well @tommudd I do have a few other bearings on hand, and all seals of course. But mostly yes pinion, still trying to hunt down a vibration. What I care about most is if I can remove everything then stuff back in, same gears, shims, etc. If I can fantastic. If I have to reset backlash...

    rear diff question

So this weekend I'm planning on taking apart the rear diff to install new pinion bearings. What I want to know is if I'm taking out the old gears and replacing only 2 bearings, and putting the same gears back in, do I need to set tolerances? or will the old gears and such still hold their...
